AP Poll organization sent USC a really cool trophy that said 2003 National Champions on it
So? Who cares? The AP Poll’s opinion mattered as much in 2003 as mine.

Let’s not forget the Patrick Peterson INT game that year.
You mean the incomplete pass?

Offhand? My guess is USC and their fans care............................ a lot.
By the way, something the AP Poll never did for Pat Dye and his barners.

Your definition of forever could use some work. Pat Dye was built by BAMA. His assistant coaches were raised by BAMA. The offense he ran was a carbon copy of BAMA. His defense was a carbon copy of what he learned at BAMA.
You can say that the barn was the early composition of today's Georgia. Just no championships.
And championships matter. That just makes him a poor imitation.
There is no doubt championships matter.
But don't forget, national championships were not the be-all, end-all back in the early 80s as they are now.
Also don't forget Pat dye was a tremendous motivator of the Auburn fanbase, and since him, they have been fearless of the biggest brand in college football, and we are all the better for it. Auburn's record against Bama since Dye proves it. They're 20-22 on the field against the most dominant team of all-time. That's better than anyone else can say.
I realize you have some disdain for Pat Dye and Auburn. It's part of what makes a rivalry great. But you can at least be objective enough to recognize his importance on the football culture of the state of Alabama.

The SugarVols in 1985. The depleted Vols were a TD plus dog to Miami (coached by Jimmy Johnson QB Venny Testarede). Vols QB Daryl Dickey (yep he was a Tennessee QB) led the Vols in a 35-7 rout of the Hurricanes.
That game is often looked at the game that put the Vols back on the map and kicked off the 1985-2005 run for the Vols.
Now this is interesting. I've heard of the game. There is no doubt VOLS went on a tear for the next two decades (193-60-5).

LSU had several but it is generally accepted that it was LSU - UGA in 2003 .
LSU has broken numerous teams but what we did to Miami football in 2005 was brutal. They never recovered.

I’m thinking for LSU, probably a win in the early 2000s.
LSU vs UGA in 03 was the birth of the current era. We were supposed to lose that game. Saban and Corey Webster had other thoughts.

Vols were representing the SEC since we were on a bowl ban. Miami was #2 and would've won the MNC since OU beat #1 Pedo St that night in the Orange Bowl.

Nuking Auburn in the 2017 SECCG was the one that got the Kirby era really going, I think.

Alabama taking credit for Auburn's 80's upstaging of them is about the most Alabama thing ever.

They don't give out NC trophies for that. If Pat Dye was really the heir apparent to coach Paul "Bear" Bryant" and the mighty Tide in the 80s where are the NC trophies? Truth is, he did less with more.
And I sat in Legion Field in 1992 on Thanksgiving Day, I watched BAMA dismantle Pat Dye's last barner team 17-0. They were headed to major NCAA penalties and he was being replaced................................ and BAMA?
Well BAMA was headed to New Orleans and the Sugar Bowl to play Miami for the natty. Remember how that went?
The only NC rings Pat Dye and his staff ever wore had a Crimson A on them.
Lmao, you are a living embodiment of the Alabama fan stereotype.

frick Les Miles and frick that game I’m still pissed about it. I’ve never seen my dad so angry in my life either I remember he didn’t speak a word for over 2 hours after it ended.

For UF, maybe the 35-0 win over 11-1 Bama in 91. Showed that Spurrier's first year wasn't a fluke and the SEC was about to be put on notice.

The 12th Rose Bowl Game
Final Score:
Alabama - 20
Washington - 19
This game made Alabama into the program it is today. No question about it.

That was such an annoying game. We played our B- game and still should’ve easily won but for Les/Stud deciding to pass on a fricking whim when we should’ve just ran the ball and kept the clock moving.
