You need to look up the definition of relevant

2 of these 8 will make a 12 game playoff every season. I'd bet that 3 will 80% of the time and 4 will somewhere around 50% of the time....going undefeated for a season in the SEC is going to be INFINITELY harder going forward....its going to be some good football for certain.

Yep, I agree. Making the playoffs is the number one goal. With just 4 teams, winning the SEC basically meant you would be one of those 4 teams. But that won’t be true anymore with 12 teams making it.

Making a 12 team playoff > Making Atlanta

Similar to baseball.
Making Omaha > winning SEC Regular Season or SEC Tournament.

Similar to basketball.
Making Final 4/8/16 > winning SEC Regular Season or SEC Tournament.

In a perfect world, I would prefer to go 12-0, head to Atlanta, win the SEC Championship, then go to the 12 team playoff, but making the 12 team playoff is the main goal.

What is the qualification to join the Big 6?

It really needs to be called the Big ___! With the number being how many teams have won the SEC and Natty in the same year. So maybe big 3 or 5? So that way OU and UT can get in the back of the line with Mizzo and TAMs.

Who cares about the Big 6? The Astros are never going to be Little League world Champs, you think that bothers them one bit? Post-SEC/Texas merger, consult the below chart to tell if your team is relevant:

Half of those teams only have one Natty in the past 50 years, you fricking moron.

I'll go with the schools that have won 3+ Natties in the past 40-50 years.

Alabama
Ohio State
LSU
Georgia
Florida
Florida State
Miami
Oklahoma

Texas, Tennessee, ND, Nebraska, and USC are former blue bloods.

Michigan and Penn State were never real blue bloods (Michigan has one Natty since teams started consistently employing the forward pass LOL).

Clemson can apply for blue blood membership with one more Natty.

Auburn is a forever wannabe blue blood.

Oregon has zero Natties.

Tennessee was 35-55 in conference games from 2012-2022. That is why they were in Group B for scheduling purposes.

Alabama was 43-45 from 1997-2007.

Things do change.

So is Georgia. If you think you are blue blood, you are on crack.

Do you really think Texas or Oklahoma cares about the Big 6 designation? We aren’t even in the conference. But I will say this..

2011 Alabama
2021 Georgia

There may be others.. those two teams won the NC and didn’t win the SEC Championship.

NC > SEC Championship all day every day

Nebraska has definitely won 3 in the last 30 years.

1994, 1995, 1997

You are going to need a new definition to exclude them..

Big 6 membership has nothing to do with a team’s number of wins or NCs. If OU or Texas wins the SEC, it will become the Big 7, Big 8, etc.

Mizzou won the East once, I think. I'm not sure.

If they won more, I might enjoy both improved mood and self-confidence in specific mental and social skills.

Unfortunately not only is this true but considering the strength of scheduling going forward going to Atlanta might be more of a hindrance than a benefit some years...it has happened in the past

Here's an interesting thought: will it matter as much if said team gets bounced in the first round? I mean it from both sides - a non-SECCG participant that gets bounced in the first round is largely forgettable, like Auburn losing their baseball regional. But a team that plays for the SECCG, much less wins it, getting bounced in the first round? That seems like it would be a more frustrating end to the season to me.

Edited to add: this is assuming that the SECCG winner does not get a first-round bye (which would likely be rare) in the as-yet-unstructured 12-team playoff.
