Florida exists as it does because it’s the only SEC school in a massive state. Not counting Vandy, Florida has the least in common with the average SEC program.

I’m not from Florida but my impression is that FSU has significant better fan support than Florida. Athletics south of the panhandle are an afterthought.

It was 82 degrees over the weekend in Gainesville and there were like 15 people at your regional. It’s like watching a UCLA game.

That's 15 more than you will have at your Super.

Sorry to the rest of the Hog fans, but he is being an idiot.

100% correct

The only reason UF has any relevance in athletics at all is that it is in the SEC.

FSU is more relevant despite being in the ACC.

If we switched conferences, UF would be a UCF level program at best. Maybe even closer to USF.

Heck, FAU had made a bigger splash hiring Tom Herman than UF did with Billy Napier.

Truth be told, UF is brining down the perception of the SEC with their lack of commitment to athletic excellence in major sports.

FSU is in the panhandle.

Florida is south of the panhandle.

UF is a top 50 university in the nation and has a massive enrollment that exceeds most SEC schools. They also have a passionate fan base that sells out their stadium routinely.

All of that would be true regardless of whether FSU was in the SEC or not.

This isn’t backed up by donor support, attendance in football, basketball or any other metric I can think of.

Setting the comparisons aside, FSU is one of the few schools in the ACC that would fit in the SEC along with Clemson IMO.

Based on what? UF sells out routinely and few if any of them are coming from the panhandle. It’s heavily weighted from a fan perspective from Duval/Jacksonville -> Orlando -> Tampa. It’s worth noting there are more people in that triangle than any SEC state outside of TX and GA.

If you want to argue Miami specifically doesn’t care about CFB maybe but that’s a very different argument.

I'm definitely not a Gator fan but I did live in Gainesville over a decade and tailgated most every game for football with my old company who were most UF Alums. I have since moved so I can't speak to their regional this past weekend but the fan and donor support for UF is far greater than FSU. It really isn't even close
