Sounds like an ESPN issue

They refuse to give more money for us to go to 9 games. If we go now we lose leverage for a later higher pay day.
Personally I and I think most college loving football fans want 9 games. It’s ESPN that’s complicating this thing.
Mizzou is on record for wanting 9 games already so what excuse do you pansies have for not going to 9? Saban of all people being afraid to play 9? Say it ain’t so!

another issue is teams have scheduled out non conf matchups already but that shouldn't be hard to break
plus you can eliminate the non conf power 5 scheduling requirement that big ten already did because that limits the pool you can play

From ESPN's standpoint, they've already got us under contract, why should they pay more? Yes, 9 conference games will probably bring slightly better quality, but how much depends on what non-conference games get canceled -- if it's the big matchups, then going to 9 is, at best, a wash, because they also lose some inventory with 9 games.
We should go to 9 games because it preserves rivalries while allowing everyone to play a full round robin within a four year cycle. It will be good for ticket sales and will, someday, pay off in TV rights negotiations (may not happen until the 2030s, but it will happen).

Who`s kidding Who.Saban didn`t want a difficult schedule.
He pitched a fit when the 3 permenants were leaked.Sankey
and all the sec administraters got on their knees to him.
This TV STUFF is IS BS.

Mizzou has been nothing but kind to LSU. After the hurricane in 2020, Mizzou worked tediously to ready Faurot Field and allowed LSU to host the game there. And we beat that arse, which helped expedite Coach O’s tenure and allowed y’all to hire the murderer who does fake southern accents and dances sensually with teenage boys. And y’all want us out of the conference? How about Mizzou stays, and instead we deport all you dirty Cajuns back to France

At least with A&M/Mizzou joined, we brought in the markets to get a big fat SECN deal done.

When you sell your soul to an organization for money you can't complain when that organization sets the ground rules. Well, you can but it's going to fall on deaf ears.
Buy the ticket. Take the ride

Sounds like a conference greed issue, not an ESPN issue.

This.
Oklahoma has fewer TV sets than DFW. Neither tu nor Oklahoma expand the media footprint of the SEC in a substantial way.

it's not just Saban.
To go to 9 games, every team must buy out of games and that is to the tune of millions for each team. Plus, ESPN is not paying enough to make up the difference.
Then you have Alabama with three permanent teams in TN, AU & LSU that makes 9 games tougher.
8 games is better for the lower half of the league to make sure they maintain bowl eligibility. That would be another hit on the money pool.
Sure, it's about money. That is the point, you certainly can make more in the short term with 8 and could make less in 9 especially if they are getting paid for it.

I want to keep Bama and UGA. The 3-6 preserves that. Look for 8 game schedule to only last for the first two years of the 16 team league. AU-UGA and UA-UT will be preserved those first two years.
Gives us two years to find a better deal.

Sounds like Mizzou should schedule 2 P5 OOC.

Yeah, it's only going to cost millions of dollars for each team to break the contracts

Someone remind me why Texas and OU being added helped the SEC. I got nothing.

Power move to keep them out of the B1G.

You understand it.
I still argue that ESPN could pressure ADs to improve their OOC scheduling much easier than trying to fit a 9 game conference schedule.
Why is 2-6 bad without divisions?

But the "muh Saban" narrative sounds so much better. Amirite?
