Carolina lucked into a host site. Their 2-seed and 3-seed have to be stout to make up for gifting the program a coveted site over Campbell and DBU.

meh, if you by rpi, SOS, Q1 wins (their entire body of work), they have a better resume than some other hosts.

I'm holding three forty dollar dollar round robin tickets of four NBA 1st round series winners, Njigba-Smith 1st WR taken, married to South Carolina at 15/1 winning the CWS. They would come back @ around 30/1.
Bought two months ago when they peaked..I can go ahead and X mark the tickets and put in my tax writeoff ziploc.
Good thing I bought February priced Wake, LSU, Fla, Ark, Vandy,Tenn,etc..too. And smaller flyers on UVa, Stan, ECU, Coastal, Campbell, Clem.
SoCar nutted and napped after that 2 gm split with LSU at home...dropped dead down the stretch.

Are hosts guaranteed a 1-seed? Could easily see Campbell being the 1 there and SC the 2.

You cannot discount what they did the first half of the season.
Actually you can discount it, and allow the more recent games to weigh heavier, but it still counts.

Virginia won the Cola regional as a 3 seed in 2021. Carolina beat Virginia in its first game - then dropped two 1-run games to ODU & UVA.
eta - USC was awarded the regional host largely because the NCAA said Carolina/Founders had satisfactory covid protocols in place in 2021 - while the fed gov psyop was still ongoing.

I seriously thought USC played their way out hosting the way the finished losing 75% of their last 10 or 12 games.

Campbell’s Jim Perry Stadium is a really nice venue. Doesn’t hold many people, but the facility is only about 4 or 5 years old. I understand why they’d prefer it in Columbia, but Campbell has been been making some big athletic investments for a small school.

You are correct, but as 1801 referenced that was largely due to COVID reasons. I don’t know if it was because ODU couldn’t host or SC had looser restrictions than VA but I think it was something like that.

Auburn (19) is their replacement
