That's what their fanbase is. They sell their souls for their university's football and baseball teams. If saving the athletics department meant burning down half of LSU's campus, they would all do it. They don't give two shits about their university except for it's sports teams. Hell, the overwhelming majority of them didn't even go to LSU. Their athletics department will gladly spend millions of dollars upgrading the football team's locker room but the university won't spend a penny on updating the university library, which goes to show you what they prioritize more.

Why would the athletics department be responsible for taking care of the university library?
Especially when most texts are online these days?
Also, the locker room was funded 100% through private donations.
