As a lifelong LSU fan, member of Tiger Band, and LSU grad this was the greatest school song played in the SEC.

It was really the only thing Ole Miss' band did well. Ole Miss went to total suck when they cancelled this.
from another Tiger Band Alum.

The Drumline really enjoyed the Ole Miss games in Tiger Stadium with Dixie and all the Rebel flags!

The Bass Drum section would always stand up and salute the Ole Miss Band on the first playing of Dixie in Tiger Stadium..........

It’s a beautiful song and a shame they ended it. It represented unity by combining Dixie with the battle hymn of the republic. It had nothing to do with supporting the confederacy like people thought but of course the PC crowd ruined a great tradition by canceling it

Before you know it they will stop playing Dixieland delight and Song of the South.

To them anything about the south or from the south has to be gone for good.

Y’all are getting the song Dixie confused with From Dixie with Love

It’s 2 different songs entirely even though FDWL is referred to as slow Dixie

The combining of Dixie and Battle Hymn of the Republic was to show the reunification of the nation. But it goes right over everyone’s head

ETA OBreb beat me to it. This is why traditions get ruined, most people have no idea the origin of said tradition and just parrot the beliefs of other ignorant people or media

Sad to say, some people don't even know why the south is called Dixie.
We are being over taken by a population of an uneducated. Some people actually believe the Confederate Battle Flag, full Stars and Bars, was an official flag of the government of the Confederacy.
The state of GA was so stupid, they changed their flag and actually made it more representative of an actual Confederate Flag than the older one!

You all are so right....I went to a small concert at the Opera House here in town earlier this week. It was a classic country/classic gospel cover band. A bunch of older dudes (however the lead singer could sing pretty good...I'm pretty sure Merle and Hank Sr would have stayed and listened). They closed their show with a rendition of Dixie. I was surprised because you just don't hear people sing it live anymore even in small venues. It was awesome.

I talked to the guy afterwards and let him know how appreciative of that song I was...he was gracious in taking my praise

I could be wrong but I believe the flag was the armies of Northern Virginia was the flag of the confederacy.

Great song by Dwight...the cover band I saw didn't do that one, but they did so Sunday in the South by Shenandoah....did a great job with that classic!

There's not much to love about Ole Miss from an outsider perspective, but dammit if I didn't respect their DGAF attitude about this kind of stuff for a long time.

The area in that video seems very dark.

They should do something to properly illuminate the space with light sources.

I’m sure Ole Miss fans will find a solution.

Dwight wrote that song when he was walking the streets of Hollywood and was disgusted at what he saw.

That’s it. Because we were sinners, we have to disavow our heritage. Never mind that all men are sinners, always have been, and always will be. Last Memorial Day I found myself at a Confederate grave off the Natchez Trace. 13 boys were laid to rest there. Far from their homes, their names not recorded, fighting for other men’s property interests with some deluded notions about patriotism. A familiar theme in human history. “Ours not to reason why, ours but to do and die.” I will remember them.

People should be proud of who they are and where they are from.

I don't want to change who I am and I won't stand and get a lecture from some deranged lunatic that I'm a second class citizen and it will always be that way. I'm offended and you better kneel.

bullshite I'm going to live the life the way I want it to be.

A - Didn't know that was the state song.

B - I was thinking about playing the music from a movie about a shark.

I wish the South would get its balls back. I won’t forget my ancestors that died for Tennessee and the South, and neither should y’all
