Fight on, brother. We share this abomination of an affliction. The main difference (as far as I can tell) is that you have hopes of recovery, while mine (pancreas) is batting 1.000 against humanity. I've survived longer (3+ years) than I had a right to expect mostly because I won the wife-picking lottery. My lovely assistant insists on keeping me alive for some reason. Married or not, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a good family and friends support system in place. On days when you're feeling particularly crappy, they will pump you up and remind you that YOU ARE A STRONG SUMBITCH. So that's my #1.

#2 is don't hesitate to ask for help when needed. And you will need it.

#3: Don't fall. I don't know how your treatment will treat you. But in my case, it turned a bicycle-racing champion into a clumsy fool who can't walk from one end of the house to the other w/o incident. Walking outside to check the mail is impossible. This one pisses me off. A lot. But it's better than falling, which I have some experience with. So... don't fall.

This is a lot of unsolicited advice and you're welcome to tell me to shove off. Either way, be strong and good luck to you.

All cancers are horrible but pancreas has got to be the worst. Sorry to hear that. I am older but I bet I have had at least 10 friends succumb to it over the last few years.

I believe that people in Paradise next to God can even still pray for you here on earth

In the words of my wife (who has had Ovarian, Breast, Skin along with the complications)

Man you've got a tough lady by your side.

I watched her have Potassium drips in both hands watching TV and looking like not a care in the world. In case people do not know, grown people have screamed with that in and have ripped out the IV.

I asked her if it hurt, and she answered a simple "yes". That was it, just yes, that was the only way I knew it hurt from her.

Even the doctors shake their head in amazement when they come in because my wife just does not let anything get to her (but the monitors do show the pain)

Like my grandmother said, she is a tough old broad.

I try everyday to live up to my wife's examples.

solus, if this is directed at the OP, you are one sick prick. Obviously lots of folks care. I really hope yours was not directed at the OP.

It’s probably because of his thread on the tRant

I come here to fuss, cuss and discuss college sports. It is all in fun.

However I would not hold their responses against anybody especially when real life steps in.

You think I care about how a bunch of strangers feel about me on the Internet where everything is 100% real?

I have to chat later, I need to get to my dialysis appointment in time so I won't be late for my chemo afterwards.

You know I see that you amended your comment, and I just want to let you know that 85% of the people on this board are dickheads. I can be one too; as can you.

But kicking someone when they’re down below the dirt says a lot more about you than my nonsensical bs that I join in on this sub. EVERYONE on here has been a dick at one time or another. That’s the point of the board, shoot the shite, not take anything seriously, and try and gain legitimate info from other teams.

You can hold that against me, but again, you pretending to care and slipping in that im a dick in at the end, and saying maybe Jesus will give me a second chance and I can be nicer.

That’s some really sad shite. Look at all these people who are going through it or have been through it with the support. They even admit everyone’s an arse on here at one point or another.

I don’t need prayers from someone that doesn’t think I deserve a second chance at life because I post bullshite on a message board.

Says a lot more about you than about me and my posts. It’s sad really.

I hope you/your family never has to go through what 15 of us in this thread have or are going through.

And you’re a fellow lsu fan too. Sad.

Thanks everyone else for the prayers. First chemo is Wednesday. I pushed it back bc I wanted to watch the game tomorrow. I’m terrified and you come in with I don’t deserve anything bc I’m a jerk.

I will pray for YOU.

She is an absolute warrior and has God wrapping her in her arms and answering prayers. The strength it takes to show nothing in the face of misery is something that you’re born with.

She’s lucky to have you. You’re a warrior for her, too.

Just bought some at the pharmacy. How much should I take? I got the capsules! I’ve never taken it: my onc told me zinc helps too so I got some of that.

Thanks so much for the advice in my uncharted waters!
