Finished second in the conference in 3 point shooting behind Kentucky. Had the number 9 offense in the country this season.

They’ve lapped us as a program. They’ve got the #3 class coming in for next season as well while ours is ranked #28. Oats is clearly in a different galaxy when it comes to developing a competent modern NBA style offense.
Bruce wanted to stay at Auburn to build a legacy and something special but it’s being built in Tuscaloosa under his watch.

Our offense was absolute dogshite when it counts in quad 1 games and the NCAA tournament.
No one cares about winning meaningless games in Auburn arena. The NCAA tournament clearly didn’t when they gave us the 4 seed and the toughest region.

Bama was just 2 missed wide open dunks from having a roughly equal or lesser season to us. Just like we were a couple missed free throws from never making our final 4 run. The tourney can be kind and it can be brutal. We are putting good or great teams out there every year and when you do that eventually you will make a run. Ask Baylor or Kansas or Virginia or North Carolina.

But as others mentioned, the tournament is also the luck of the draw unfortunately as to who we are matched up with.
But not to take anything away from Bama as they could have crumpled under the pressure and did not. They are likely going to destroy Clemson and go to the FF and people will stop chirping about how they never made it there.
Bruce has to find ways to recruit at a higher level or get some good transfers to win those games we are losing. He has significantly raised the floor, and now has to raise the ceiling.

I clicked on your link. I noticed that they have 4 recruits to our 2. I also noticed that our 2 players average a 98.1 rating while their 4 average a 97.2. So that is telling me we are getting the same caliber player they are on the aggregate.

There’s a lot of reasons to be upset as a fan, but recruiting shouldn’t be one. It’s not like Bama has 4 5 stars coming in every year like Kentucky. We only have 2 commits. Chill.

Nice thought in principle, won’t happen. Our recruiting is tied to them, booster money fluctuates with them and fan support is greater when we are competing with them…which we are, but believe me. If they get to a final four after we wash out in round one, boosters will care.

Look, I love Bruce and Stidham is a complete idiot, but the recruiting part has been an issue. It's actually our main issue and concern.
Mainly because we aren't recruiting the numbers we need. Bruce has had the mentality lately that he's either going top 50 prospect or going with the portal, but he's missing on most the top 50 prospects and not getting enough top portal players either.
Bruce has been most successful when we have solid 4 star high three stars that developed (see Okeke, Harper, Brown, etc). That's also what Oats has been super successful with, mixing solid four stars with great transfers.
It doesn't help that our last couple top 50 prospects have busted horribly, but we have to do a better job recruiting both high school and the portal to have a more balanced team and have sustained success in the tournament. Hopefully we switch to Nike and that helps, but we need to do better regardless.
When two of your Bball schollies are being used by Addarin Scott and a walkon, you aren't doing amazing in recruiting.

We won 27 fricking games and won the SEC tournament when the league was the toughest it has probably ever been.
Yeah we dropped an easy one to Yale. But we caught shite breaks with our best wing getting ejected, Jailyn twisting an ankle, Denver playing extra minutes while sick, and getting the worst official crew of the tournament.
We win the game by 15 or more if just one of those things doesn’t happen. But that’s the reality of basketball. One little thing can tip the scales and cause you to lose.
Yeah we don’t have the best guards in the country but they were damn good enough to win 27 games.
Bama has been good and will be good for the foreseeable future. Just be glad that they aren’t going to back-to-back final fours because that could easily be the case.
