I would ask why you think he can? He went a whole season playing terrible. But to answer you, I don't think he's a good enough athlete. Not fast enough, can't jump high enough and not strong enough to finish through contact. Harper had elite speed.

I think he’s got really good burst. He beat defenders off the dribble pretty easily, and he seems like a great shooter who has the yips currently. Most of all I like his decision making.
I don’t think he’s a sure thing by any stretch but I think he has a lot to work with.

You gotta stop writing people off when they are still only 18, maybe 19 tops.

He actually started off the season pretty strong. He was a freshman. His shooting problems were mental. He made pretty good decisions with the ball and didn't turn it over much. I think he definitely deserves another year.

Jordan Stocks

The past 3 Men's College Basketball National Champions have met this criteria.
- They have lost 1 or less games on neutral courts.
- They average more than 78 PPG.
- They allow 70 or less PPG.
The only remaining Sweet 16 teams that fit this are Duke, Purdue, and UCONN.

He had 1 good game then took a nose dive. I guess that's technically starting the season strong, but the book was out on him fairly quickly. He did struggle getting past the 1st defender and the few times that he was able to turn the corner he either miss got blocked. That's why all of his shots are deep, because he can't create space.
Its true that he didn't turn the ball over a lot, but that doesn't mean he was a good passer. The offense stalled any time he was on the court and he couldn't make passes into the post. He eventually became so much of a liability that Bruce benched him in he 2nd half of the SEC title game. He had the production of a walk on, we have to stop star gazing and see the evidence of a full season at this level.

I just plainly disagree with much of that. Jared was benched for Ronnie Johnson in a few games his freshman year in lower stakes games. It doesn’t happen at the same time for everybody.
If he had just made the shots he made in high school we would all be singing a different tune. And maybe he never gets the confidence back and succeeds at this level but I’m not writing the guy off yet at all.

Holloway didn't look like a PG to me.
It's hard to make a PG.
His lack of strength, size and athletic ability kept him from finishing better at the rim. If he can get stronger and a little more athletic his game will get better...at the 2. He's just not really a 1.

Aden will improve and gain confidence in his ability with time and hard work. Expecting a true freshman to come in and dominate in the SEC when the league is at its strongest is just unrealistic.

Not sure how people are giving up on a freshmen who was all-freshman at the hardest position in basketball. I don’t think we should be banking on Aden putting things together next year, but I would hope part of the conversation with Aden was that we are going to go find another PG but that he still has a spot and will have the opportunity to develop and fight for his starting spot.

I'm not giving up on him, but he's not a true PG to me. Which is ok. A year of maturing and getting stronger will help him. if he can learn to finish at the rim he can be a really, really good player.

Depends what his price tag is. If top dollar, go get an experienced point. This kid is a long term project.

I think just go get the best 1 you can find.. If you get a really good one then one of Tre/Aden probably gets scared off and oh well.. and if they don't get scared off then you've got great depth.

Also if his shot starts falling, it'll open up a lot more for him to drive. He got some of the tougher things right. I really do think the rest will come if he figures out his shot.

Expecting a top positionally ranked freshman to at least look competent in the SEC is not too much to ask. Jabari of course had games where he looked a little lost but he also had great games. Aden was 90% lost this season.

We just need Aden's best years as an Auburn Tiger.
We got spoiled by Thor, Okoro, and Jabari playing like leaders in their freshman years. That was marvelous, but not typical. Okeke didn't even play that great as a tf. He was little timid.

This is such hyperbole. He only looked “lost” in a few games this year. His shot wasn’t falling for most of the year, but that doesn’t mean he looked lost. He had an elite assist to turnover ratio for a freshman. He averaged more minutes per game than Tre on a team that went 27-7. He needs to be better but yall acting like he was awful all year are so far off.

Jabari was a projected top 5 pick before he ever suited up for Auburn. Aden didn’t even hit any draft projections until the season started.

No sense running him off bc he didnt meet our fanbases unrealistic expectations

I'll preface my comments by saying I sincerely hope he sticks around and improves. Even though he struggled I didn't see any negative body language all year.
That being said shooting around 30% overall is not competent.
