It's unreal. Let's make that an emphasis on practice

I think I have shot 5000 free throws in my lifetime of playing. Not once do I ever remember air balling one. And we do it not once but twice tonight

This team really has stunk since January. So, yeah. They made it as far as a more talented team did last year.

Team FT % is kinda silly as a stat. Not like every national champ is top 50 or anything. The key is having your best FT shooters out there to close out games. And not having a guy get into a complete funk like Broome did tonight.

We literally beat Iowa the other night by closing it out at the line.

We’ve got to get better from 3 though

what we need is a good shooting coach. I haven't been able to figure out who that is on this staff......but dude is stealing every payday.

With the staff limitations, teams don’t really have a dedicated “shooting coach”. Most players work with their own coaches in the offseason. I think it was Hoke that said with them adding a coaching spot, he’s heard more of a dedicated shooting coach is something they’re looking at.

didn't know that. I was under the assumption we had one. I thought that was Person's role before he went all stupid.

This. It’s much more about recruiting better shooters than it is having a dedicated shooting coach although I wouldn’t be opposed to that.

The grad assistants are generally the ones working on the players shooting the most by just getting in the gym with them as it is

FTs and 3s are kind of similar in that the way you get great at them isn’t during practice time. Coaches only have so many hours with their players. The vast majority of that time is going to be install and team stuff.

Remember last year how Jabari had to initiate coming in early in the morning to shoot 3s? That’s the type of work that makes you a great shooter.

No he had another role. FTs are one of the main things coaches can work on with guys. Changing a jumpshot requires basically an entire offseason just because it’s years of muscle memory.

The story of the game was their offensive rebounds, #12 for UH and our lack of FT shooting. The first two are due to our lack of length the second is lack of preparation

Donaldson was 5-5 from 3 in the NCAAt before that airball. Could you do that?

Athletes in high school don’t work on shot form and FT shooting. They work on windmill dunks.

Bruce has always leaned on the more athletic player or “skilled”. Plus this is just a poor shooting team regardless of distance

I would say mental toughness. We have crumbled in every instance last year and this. Last year we had an eraser on defense and a pure shooter that covered up a lot. Still very weak in the mental toughness area. We showboat, we complain like bitches, we commit stupid fouls at dumb times, we take dumb shot. That’s mental
