Since 2000:

45- Kentucky
38- Florida
21- Oklahoma
20- Texas
17- Tennessee
10- LSU, Texas A&M
9- Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri
8- Alabama
5- Vanderbilt
4- Ole Miss, Miss St, S Carolina
0- Georgia (!)

Thoughts:

Florida has really fallen off since 2015, but what Donovan accomplished was quite unbelievable

Georgia should just shut it down, bulldoze Stedman, and create more parking

Zero officially. We did go to the second round as a 3-seed in 2002, but that first round win against Murray State got vacated.

The fact that Georgia isn’t good at basketball or baseball just shows their athletic department is full of idiots.

Only taking football seriously is so early 2000s. Get with the program

All of State’s were from 2002-2008, and all of them were first round wins. Stansbury was excellent at losing in the second round.

8- Alabama

This surprised me for the current #1 overall seed and one of the winningest teams historically in the conference.

For as bad of a drought as we had. It looks even worse in print. Lol. Checks out though for that time period.

It just occurred to me that we're finally getting to a stage where "this century" doesn't seem like a dumb metric.

Makes me feel old

Despite that we're still 3rd in tourney wins among SEC teams since Billy D left with 6, only behind Arky with 7 and UK with 9.

Half the century we weren't even in the tournament as we fumbled through the end of Gottfried and the subsequent 2 mid coaches (2007-2017 other than 2012). Gottfried was awful in the tournament outside of the totally random off the wall run to the Elite 8 in 2004. Lost to lower seeded teams in 2002 and 2005. Lost the 1st game as a 10 seed in 2003. Lost in the 2nd round to UCLA in 2006. Grant and Avery's 2 combined appearances resulted in a grand total of 1 win.

2021 was only our 2nd trip to the Sweet 16 since Wimp was here in 1991 (the other being the elite 8 run). We've been to the tournament 10 times since 2000, but very little success. Especially under Gottfried. It's one of the reasons people were relatively happy with the Sweet 16 a few years ago in the COVID Tournament. It was the 2nd best postseason we'd had in 30 years.
