My Thoughts on the UA/AU games this year

I was fortunate this year to attend both UA/AU basketball games. The atmosphere at Neville Arena was unbelievable -- my first trip there. It was deafening in that place all game long, but especially when that AU student hit the 94 foot putt for a new car!! I left there wishing we had that kind of atmosphere in Coleman.

Unlike previous years when I had attended a game or two in Coleman, last night's atmosphere was electric, especially the last fifteen minutes or so. It was deafening at times. I thought the crowd really showed up for this one -- although there were a good many empty seats. This year, unlike last year's game at Coleman, I didn't see too many AU fans. There were obviously some as you could hear them cheering in the first half, but not like last year when they were there en mass!

One question I had last night, especially in the first half, was what goofball thought it was a good idea for the players to wear their red road uniforms, especially since we had won every home game wearing white!! All the Bama fans I saw obviously got the memo about it being a "crimson out".

And lastly, I think the students' chant of "Bruce is fat" is over the top and needs to be shut down. Call me old or out of touch with today's students, but it just seemed classless to me!! We are, or should be, better than that!!
