With this defense and oline, If its just moderatly productive all should be fine.

Run, run, pass, and punt. The regression will be big.

And immediately kill off any Super Bowl chances they have for the next 5 years after that. Whatever GM/coach gives him the $200M+ in guaranteed money that he wants will be looking for a job by the end of the 2024 season.

I don't understand why he would hire Bobo. This I question
Posted on 2/14/23 at 10:16 am to Spaceman Spiff
I mean he had a hand in Todd Gurley, Chubb, Michele, Knowshon etc... Not all bad.

Recruiting will be good, and hopefully Kirby has told him to stay with the same scheme.

Good heavens man what in the world would make you think pettiness is involved here in any way?
I came to the board and saw 2 of the exact same thread at the top. I deleted the one that was the bottommost of the two.
There was nothing nefarious or petty about it

We need to decide which it is. Is it "Bobo has no creativity it's run, run pass". Or is it "Run the damn ball bobo!"
Does he run 2/3 of the time or does he not run enough? I wish his detractors would get on the same page.

true to the tune of 37 points and 450 YPG averaged his final 3 seasons with a quarter of the talent he'll have now.
But sure he sucks, I guess.

Against what competition. Tell us how he did vs SC, UF and bigger teams. Also, tell us about those 3rd and longs again. If I'm wrong, I'll admit. If I'm right, there you go.

New sub team to cheer for in NFL?
Baltimore OC - Todd Monken
Baltimore DC - Mike Macdonald
Baltimore Dawgs

Point is it doesn't even seem like he interviewed anyone. There could have been some big names that would have been interested. Seems rushed, but what do I know

Agreed. Bobo may do great, but this is unquestionably a lazy hire. A lot of stones are very much unturned.

I think Bobo is good OC with the right talent. But I think the PPG point people use is more complicated than just Bobo did that. Those teams had very average defenses, so the games were usually close and thus the offense had to play and try to score more.
But I'm team Bobo
Good for recruiting too. The Riola kid is supposed to be an all timer and he already has a relationship with mike.and it's a big year for in state talent. Trust Kirby.

quote:I was a big advocate against Tracy Searels seared this year even to the point where my dumb self wanted him gone .. I was dead wrong later in the year our OL was Fantastic I was wrong about searels coming back so maybe bobo has learned something from monken and will keep this scheme going I think maybe he deserves a second chance before any judgement I do know he is one hell of a QBs coach I mean look he turned out Greene, Shockley, Stafford, and Murray
Run, run, pass, and punt. The regression will be big.

Uh, the SEC?

With vastly inferior overall talent than now:
2012:
UT- 51
SC- 7
UF- 17
AU- 38
AL- 28
Bowl- 45
2013 (half a roster the 2nd half of the season):
Clemson - 35
SC- 41
LSU- 44
UT- 34
UF- 23
AU- 38
Bowl- 19
2014:
Clemson: 45
SC- 35
UT- 35
UF- 20
AU- 34
Bowl- 37
It's of course worth reiterating, although it would be obvious to anyone using some rational thinking, that the offensive landscape of cfb from a decade ago was wildly different than now. The fact that he put up those kind of numbers in that era with what he had is espeically impressive. To think he will run a 2007 offnse in 2023 is just not based in any reality whatsoever. People are just looking and seeking out any reason they can to shite on him which perplexes me to no end considering what all he's done for UGA.

what about them? Why don't you tell us about them since that seems to be a sore spot? All coaches have 3rd and longs so not sure why that's worrisome. And since we aren't starting carlton thomas at RB these days consider me also unworried about RB production.

It gives me life to see people on a message board in the middle of a work day acting like they know more about football coaching hires than the current back to back national champion HC, Kirby Smart.
Kirby isn't just flippantly hiring someone. The fact the news of Bobo came out so soon after Monken's departure announcement says that Kirby has been sitting on this move for a while now. Bobo is the guy he wants to hire and he isn't going to pick someone he doesn't believe will play their part in the next national championship hunt.
