I can’t imagine the hubris and just plain ignorance involved for these players to ask the GOAT for this kind of stuff. It’s gotta be hard for a coach building what he has built, and doing it in the manner he has to see a paradigm shift from players begging for a chance to ride his bench for 2-3 years and being developed just for a chance to play one year to demanding this kind of stuff never having taken a snap in college football. Good for Nick.

Cormani McClain’s father was the one looking for $800k. Supposedly it was Cohen asking for the $500k and pay for girlfriend to get into the law school.
CNS has warned on more than one occasion about “is this what we want college football to be” and people have laughed and made fun of him for it. He’s warned about this NIL stuff as well. Yes, he supports this kids getting compensated but he warned about not having any parameters in place. NCAA is toothless and has no way of correcting this cluster that they created.

Right now Saban and a handful of other coaches are toeing the line because the power of their programs allows them to “show the the door.” Hopefully the market will correct the problem because as noted the NCAA can’t.

The Florida situation could create a little movement here, but as long as there are programs that have fallen on hard times and are desperate to regain relevance NIL being manipulated into a vehicle for legally fielding what amounts to a semi-pro team is here to stay.
There is just no way to effectively regulate it because of how incredibly broad the concept of NIL is. It's also not going to be governed by economics because the goal isn't to make money. The goal is to win, and for billionaire boosters footing the bill for a $30 million payroll is nothing. If the talent they buy doesn't win games they aren't going to say "wow, maybe we shouldn't be paying players." They're just going to fire the coach and keep buying recruits.

Take the UF/Miami crap with Rahshada that’s spinning out of control and tell me how the ncaa will handle that blatant display of using NIL to entice at top recruit.

I can’t think of one player on our championship teams that were selfish. On the other hand I can think of a few on teams that didn’t win championships.
Big-time college and NFL players play primarily for their own self-interests. There’s too much money at stake and too small a window to cash in on it for blue chip players to be frickin’ around with what’s best for the team.
And why should it be any different? Fans and coaches are only loyal to players as long as they’re producing. If you want unconditional love, go see your mom.
