But he does deserve unquestioned respect and appreciation and the benefit-of-the-doubt for what he has accomplished on behalf of the Alabama football program, the University, the state and the fans of the program. The attitude and verbiage used means everything when dealing with these things, and Saban deserves the best of all of these until he retires. There is almost no monetary value that can be attached to the value he has added to the program. The only way fans can repay him is to treat him with respect and appreciation at all times. Not that he is above criticism but the manner in which it is presented matters a great deal to those who insist on offering it.

This is correct. We are not entitled to anything as fans. I can prognosticate but I don’t demand things because my input don’t matter.

I do like, while not crucial for coordinators, Rees is a decent to good recruiter who already has a solid relationship with Julian Sayin for 2024.

Now Grantham really isn't a recruiter, or at least anywhere close to Golding. That's perfectly fine if he's a superior coach, which is debatable.

The brand is bigger than any one assistant, but Bama did lose two guys who did a lot of recruiting legwork in Golding and Kelly. Armstrong has potential with MS HS connections due to his relationship with Bobby and Will Hall.

Grantham gives off Rick Trickett vibes, a jerk of a coach who has had success and has been a "name", but is slowly succumbing to diminishing returns...

BOL is saying Rees is going to be the hire.

I don't hate it. I'd argue his floor is better than BoB. Seeing as how he actually occasionally runs pre-snap motions. Solid hire with potential upside.

Any chance the qb transfers to Bama?

I doubt it. He's already enrolled in South Bend.

I'd rather see Ty Simpson win the job.

From what I've watched of ND offensive stuff I think Simpson and what Rees likes to do match up pretty well. Should be an interesting spring.

Definitely feels like the end of the road for Milroe, but who knows.

Fuuuuck. I see people are talking themselves into this one, and I'd like to as well, but I can't . I take it folks haven't watched a lot of ND football these past few seasons?

I'll never get what Saban looks for in his OCs. It almost seems like he's looking for a handicap sometimes - like, someone who surely WON'T get the most out of our talent (Sark foiled him!). Kidding aside, it's some sort of "this guy says he's big on some schematic things I'm looking for and can talk the talk about them" and willingness to work / be a team player fit combo, I guess, but I just don't get the priorities.

I mean, in the end, our offense isn't going to be abysmal or anything. We're too talented to wreck. After BOB, I was hoping for something a little more inspiring, but... not in the cards.

I've watched them make the playoff and beat Clemson twice. Oh and somehow get Ian Book drafted in the 4th round by my Saints. He's got potential.

Some of you guys are really pessimistic. If Rees is the guy he’ll do a good job. He’s only 30 years old so he should be here for 3-5 years if he does well. NDs offense was really good under him. He was the OC in 2020 when they made the playoffs. Our talent is WAY better than NDs.

I think he'll surprise a lot of folks. He's a QB coach with a tendency to use a TE. I like it. Let's go!

Guess we'll all find out together if Rees is the best pick

If Rees is the choice, then the DC needs to be a solid choice. An iffy OC needs to have a very stout D for when the offense struggles. These days, the offense needs to be clicking if the defense is struggling. At times last season, we had both struggling.

Solid hire. TE's are vital in a Tommy Rees offense.
Also, RB's getting adequate carries and receptions. Not being forgotten during the game.

I'm pretty happy with it to be honest. Not at all what I expected from an OC standpoint but he uses pistol, shotgun, and your traditional TE heavy sets. It's a good mix of personnel

Fwiw, it appears to me Tommy Reese is intelligent, has solid OC/QB acumen and is a good fit for what we need.

With the solid OC hire, Saban reels Schumann back home, there'll be enthusiastic turn out for the spring game.
