Yeah but wouldn't you want to be one of the first power 5 teams to get "in the market".

I know you can probably have some back channel talks, but firing him sooner than later would signal open for business for agents at least.

I agree. I would expect there to be a few coaches and coaching staff members on the hot seat that would be an upgrade from Stricklin. I also agree that going ahead and letting Stricklin go would maybe open some eyes of coaches that might be ready to move up and not be assistants anymore and throw their name in the ring even if they are still playing post season.

New renderings of the Foley expansion. Won’t be complete until 2025 season.
Looks like they’ll be expanding the awning to cover all the current seats (finally) and adding some field level seats on the corners. Also features new LED field lights, new locker room, team meeting room, etc. guessing this also means home dugout will move to third base side.

As for softball, looks like they’ll get a detached facility beyond the left field wall

For baseball? Top level is going to be coaches offices and recruiting lounge (they’re currently still working out of Stegeman) and bottom level will be new batting cages, pitching lab, team meeting room, etc

Wish they wouldn’t stop there and would do something on first base side/right field as well but when it’s already running $45 mill across two years I guess we get what we get

Do you work on planning or architecture in the real world? Just curious cause you seem really into new plans and construction and are always up to date on what's being proposed.

I don’t, just a facilities wonk. In another life, I probably would’ve been an environmental architect but I just didn’t go that route in school. But I’m really into how landscapes and facilities impact fan (and recruit) perception about a program, school, franchise, etc. Especially in college athletics, we spend 9 of an avg 12 hours tailgating, walking, visiting on the campus grounds and around the outside of a football stadium itself. In baseball because of the plodding nature of the game, we use the seating as a social space to hold conversations and as an observation deck: we watch the game, we watch the people around us, we look off into the vista of campus. Making a visually appealing and engaging space inspires people to keep coming back and we (UGA) are competing directly with some of the most visually engaging parks in the country. I worry that we simply aren’t doing/haven’t done enough to be competitive in that respect, let alone others.

Per Dasher

Athletic Director Josh Brooks says he has yet to meet with Scott Stricklin to talk about the baseball program and this past season. He said they will speak “soon.” Brooks annually meets with his head coaches after the season.

Nice man. Yeah I thought about being a LA but went in a different direction too. You're right that the environment and setting plays a big part in the overall experience.

I dont think you can read anything into that bland AD-speak of a quote. There's no way he can stay.

Just weird that it seems like meeting with CSS isn't a priority.

I would think it would be if he was getting fired

Worth noting that Josh was in NYC earlier this week for an AD of the Year banquet and then in Greensboro today for the Athletics board meeting while Strick was in Hoover Monday and Tuesday. Legitimately may not have been in a room together to this point so o think it’s an honest answer.

What he can’t and won’t speak to is if he’s already made up his mind and has been vetting possible replacements (which typically helps to inform a decision to turn over a HC spot).

Here's who I would go after

1.Wes Johnson, Pitching Coach LSU
-Two years at LSU
-Pitching Coach for Minnesota Twins 20-22
-Coached at Mississippi State and Dallas Baptist

Dream choice. He actually left a playoff team in Minnesota to come back to the SEC in 2022 and joined LSUs staff. Was pitching coach at Dallas Baptist and Mississippi State, and was hired at Arkansas before leaving for MLB.

2.Cliff Godwin, East Carolina
-4 Super Regionals in 7 chances
-4 regular season championships
-3 conference tournament championships
-Coached at Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, LSU, Ole Miss

This is an SEC guy through and through and would flourish anywhere in the SEC(maybe not Mizzou). Everyone knows this and has tried to get him but he hasnt left so far. Money and facilities are not the issue at East Carolina. This is a program on the level of many in the SEC. Not realistic, but you make him say no.

3.Dan Heefner, Dallas Baptist
-8 straight regionals
-2011, 2021 Super Regionals
-4 conference tournament championships
-3 regular season championships

Heefner is another guy you ask and make them tell you no, but he probably isnt leaving Dallas Baptist and he definitely isnt leaving the state of Texas. Great coach that wins in every conference Dallas Baptist moves to.

4.Scott Brown, Pitching Coach Vanderbilt
-11 years as pitching coach at Vanderbilt
-pitching coach at St Johns

I think Brown is the last slam dunk option. He has been at Vandy for 11 years and its time for him to take over his own program. Corbin is only 62, so I doubt he is waiting for him to leave, so why not Georgia? He knows how to develop pitching and was doing it at St John's before arriving in Nashville.

5.John Szefc, Virginia Tech
-4 regionals in 7 years at Marist from 96 to 02
-2 Super Regionals, 3 total Regionals in 5 years at Maryland 13 to 17
-1 Super Regional, Conference Championship at Virginia Tech

Szefc has been a program builder and has led Virginia Tech from nothing to one Super Regional in six years, but he has been on the wrong side of average for the rest of his time there. He's also never had talent from the state of Georgia infused in any of his programs.

6.Chris Pollard, Duke
-2 conference championships at Pfeiffer 03, 04
-1 conference championship, 1 regional at Appalachian State
-2 Super Regionals, 4 regionals Duke
-1 conference tournament championship Duke

7.Justin Haire, Campbell
-9 seasons
-282-188 record
-5 straight regionals
-3 conference championships
