Lady Dawgs lose to FSU again tonight. Played better today, but FSU is just a solid team and likely to make it to the Championship vs Oklahoma.

I saw some chatter that our 2 top candidates is a coach for Mississippi State and the ECU coach. Apparently Brooks about to back the Brinks truck up for someone. Hopefully this is true and we get serious. Would be nice to have 3 quality sports programs at UGA.

All quiet. Sounds like even if Brooks makes a move and seals someone, won’t be announced until after the tourney or at least until after a team with a coach involved is bounced.
Not much else going on on our side of things so my guess is Brooks is conducting a search via agents and grabbing guys for interviews when and where possible. But he’s not going to make waves in doing so.

Yeah… my thoughts as well. As in many coaching searches, you generally have to wait until the projected coaches team is eliminated from postseason. Hopefully we wait until after Omaha

Anyone know much about him? Isn’t LSU’s pitching staff a little weak this year? Wondering what drew GA to him?

Johnson has a to of experience from LSU, Arkansas, MSU, and with the Twins. LSU staff has been iffy this year but then Sean Kenny was being courted by the Giants after he produced Wilcox, Hancock, Locey, Kristofak, Schunk, etc and look at the state of our staff this year. He’s not coming in to be our pitching coach so I don’t really care about his prowess in that regard; hire someone who can do the job

I read an article on him with his history. Impressive resume. Just don’t know much about him. Will be interesting to see who he keeps, who leaves/transfers, & who transfers in.

Damn. Sucks, but not surprised. Takes a few days to get your paperwork and everything done to get into the portal, and you can always take yourself out. I 100% understand every player at UGA entering the portal and seeing what’s out there while listening hard to the new coach as well

Sounds like Will Coggin will be our new hitting coach/recruiting coordinator. Has been at UK with Nick Mingione the past 4 years and was a coach and player at Miss State before that where he gained notoriety for working with Jake Mangum. UK tends to have really good offenses so I’m up for this hire.
We are also retaining Brock Bennett from Stricklin’s staff which I think is really smart. Current players love Brock and he and Coggin both bring a lot of youth to the staff where Wes is an older guy with a ton of experience.
