One yard didn't turn that into an impossible kick.

He was perfect from 40-49 for two years.
Seems to me like that

One yard

I'll stick with his thoughts on it, not yours.
When’s the last time you heard a player blame his coaches or teammates? Player’s always say “it’s my fault” or “I need to do better” etc. even though everyone knows what the truth actually is…
You need to look at the evidence that is right in front of you… the kid has never made a 50yrd kick in his life, yet you’re trying to act like he missed some kind of automatic, chip shot.

You include Auburn, but not FSU? Interesting
Florida State's previous four recruiting classes were ranked as follows (247Sports Composite):
2023: #20
2022: #20
2021: #23
2020: #22
Auburn's previous four recruiting classes were ranked as follows (247Sports Composite):
2023: #18
2022: #21

2020: #7
Auburn has recruited on par with Florida State over the last four years, save that 2020 recruiting class when Auburn finished 9-4 in Malzahn's last decent season before he was shown the door. I highly doubt Auburn competes for the national title this year, even with Hugh Freeze, due to the mass exodus of a lot of those players from that 2020 class. However, I added them in because they fit the historical stat.
Florida State does not fit in with those other teams.

He was 0-1 at Ohio State prior to that kick.

It doesn't. It makes a difference of exactly 1 yard.

bullshite.
I said:

We did lose. Because we missed a field goal.
I didn't say it was automatic or anything close to it. You're adding that.

You are right about Auburn not competing this year. You are underestimating Norvell and his use of the portal. Lane is not near as good as Norvell in this manner. With Wilson and Travis coming back, FSU is now poised to kick Clemson to the curb this fall. In doing that, they may very well make the CFP this fall. Norvell is rebuilding FSU, like it or not. Just broke ground on new football facility, added a hot shot DB Coach. Good times ahead!

I don't know about winning it all every year, but all of the P5 universities in major recruiting hotbeds without outrageous admission standards have a chance to be #12 or better come bowl season. They have to decide to take football seriously and spend some major dough on it. And then of course, it takes quite a bit of luck, but you at least put yourself in a position to win if you pay over market value on proven coaches, have elite talent in your back yard, and upgrade your facilities to be on par with the rest of the top teams.
TCU just played for a natty and they were in a G5 conference a decade ago. Even in the G5 conference, had Auburn not completed the Camback, they'd have gone undefeated and played Oregon in the NC game in 2010. Then they and Baylor got passed over for a spot in the inaugural playoffs thanks to a lack of conference championship game.
Speaking of Baylor, they had 13 straight losing seasons before Art Briles finally went 7–6. Both of their non-interim head coaches since then have won at least 11 games by their third season.

Has made the playoff once.
Hard to have a legitimate shot to win it every year when you don’t make it

why is southern cal and texas on this list?
Both have the resources and talent base
regardless of CFP history.

What you say might be true, but the historical data just doesn't line up for Florida State to have any shot at the national championship this year. They might make the playoffs, to be sure, but their fate will be similar to that of TCU. They just don't have the talent or the depth to compete right now.

To be fair, TCU was in the SWC and probably goes to the B12 if not for the politics of Baylor (who turns out to be the rapiest college in history).

Just like the other topic, you refusing to accept reality doesn't change a thing
Maybe OSU will do better next season and you won’t have to hold on to bitterness that drives you to argue about FGs that were not likely to be made, or injuries that didn’t stop your team from winning like your defense did.

Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. The only hard requirement to win a natty is to recruit at a high enough level, else we see what happened in the championsip game.
All our losses this season were within a touchdown. We switch coaches or Ewers or Arch lights it up and we're in it.

Twelve 3+ loss seasons out of the last 15 says NO. Take off your LSU glasses for a minute. Right now LSU is a once every 4 years power. We'll see if Kelly can turn that around.

Losing to Bottom of the SEC West team isn't going to cut it!
