From the outside looking in , I think both coaches will tell you that really good assistant coaches are hard to come by. Saban made who he is today, being an assistant at smaller schools. Look at Sabans early years , he had Mel Tucker, Mario Christobal, and Kirby Smart, Sal Sunseri as assistants . That’s a pretty stellar line up that were aggressive recruiters. You can’t fault Saban imo for trying to adapt to the spread, but I dont think it worked out and I hope from the defensive side of things they go back to murder ball.

The appearance of drop offs in the program imo were the combination of this and the three years where Saban had to completely replace multiple staff members, one year it seemed almost every damn position. I remember an interview with Saban regarding Kirby leaving to go to UGA , and he said “ Kirby had ceratainly been one of the most loyal assistants” he had ever had. That shite matters ….

Lol

That's rich. As if Auburn and LSU are bastions of consistency.
You are disproving your own point with the shitty way those national championship programs are run.

Again... half of the teams in the SEC are below average. That includes LSU and Auburn in some years (right next to their national championships).

Below average compared to what? Also, "half are below average" always cracks me up.

The SEC West has been considered the toughest division in college football for nearly 15 years.

Cry more if you can't accept it.

He is possibly three days away from 2 national championships in 2 years

That and this is his 3rd appearance in the title game in 6 years.

Can you imagine how obnoxious we’d be if we won that one too

Mainly because of bama. Saban doesn’t play bama. That’s a weak flex.

It was a long, long time ago. Coach Hyder was special. Next to my father, he made the biggest impact on my life.

Well, year.

Technically is is above .500 at LSU without Burrow but he’s a trash coach.

Saban is a machine. Normally a coach would burn out or get lazy after 7-8 years of his dominance. He’s still at the top. Can Kirby sustain?

Kirby not even finished with year 7…comparison unfairly skewed to Saban

Apples to oranges. Kirby takes over a national power that Richt had built and built on that.
Saban took over a program that had been basically given the death penalty. From 2001-2003 Bama could only sign 12, 13, and 14 players in those three years and could not go to a bowl in two years. It wasn't until 2008 that Bama had 85 scholarshipped players on the roster again with 42 being freshmen or redshirt freshmen with no transfer portal to bail him out.

Half of the conference is crap every year. They are not a quality win.
Rank your division. Find half. Prove me wrong.
Hell. This season only has 4 SEC teams with a winning conference record. And that is not uncommon.

Kirby made Sabah, very apparent at this point imho A1abana hasn’t had a defense since Kirby left and they have 1 legitimate championship without him! FACT: Coach Sabah’s career would be very similar to Ed Orgeron’s if not for Kirby Smart

Whoever started this trend where they post “fact” and then state a stupid opinion needs to realize they are influencing poor retards like this guy to believe it actually means something.

This is the real question, obviously Kirby has done an amazing job in his first seven seasons but what Saban has been able to do all the other years is what makes him the GOAT. Of course you have insecure Gumps like 3rdown10 who can’t stand that Kirby has a similar first seven years to Saban

We were so nationally powerful, we fired the coach. Makes a ton of sense Tony.
