“...just throw it to the guy who’s fricking open”. That’s my favorite. How many times have the rest of us said that at the TV while watching football.

"One thing that I learned in Law School...Never pick up mouse turds, when there are elephant turds falling everywhere. Focus on what's most important. I try to remind myself of this" ~ Mike Leach
Funny, insightful and true.

I loved when he went off on fake mascots, at WSU when caused me to launch get Mike a real cougar. He was like Colorado has a real buffalo, Auburn has a live eagle, lsu has a live tiger, those are great mascots. We are cougars but we have a guy in a suit. Or something like that.
He would always talk about taking his walk trying not to trip over sleeping hippies and shite like that too.
Of course my favorite quotes were when I would call in on radio show and after my pitch or comment, he would say “Tut that’s an interesting point or comment you may be in to something there.”
He always liked talking to the callers and was a Natural at it

It's interesting to me that all these Aggies—whether they're at A&M or here—are sitting around with halos over their heads and they have some divine expertise on fanmanship. I just don't believe that's the case. For the record, I think our fans are better than the Aggie fans

Leach's Cougars travel to Oregon Saturday. He said Autzen Stadium is the loudest in the Pac-12, though it has nothing on War Memorial.
“Oklahoma is louder, [Texas] A&M is louder, Texas is on the bubble,” Leach said Monday.
“Nebraska is definitely louder. LSU is louder. I never went to Alabama. We beat Alabama, but it was at Kentucky.
“Depending whether or not you add the cowbells, Mississippi State is comparable. Georgia is louder, Florida is louder. Definitely that one end zone at South Carolina is louder. Tennessee is louder.
“And Little Rock, Arkansas, that’s the loudest place I’ve ever played. Entirely concrete structure. It’s as if you had a football game in the neighbor’s basement and all the kids were yelling louder than hell. And you could tell when you were starting out, you could clap your hands and you'd hear it five times. You know, go, go, go, go. Hit, hit, hit, hit. After you figure there's 45,000, you multiply that times five, that equals approximately 250,000 people. Most stadiums don't hold 250,000 people. So 250,000 people is louder than 100,000 people.

His rant about getting married is an all-timer.
Definitely my favorite Leach interview answer. All of who are or have ever been married know just how accurate every word of it was.

The last thing I saw of him was halftime at the bama game this year. The half ended with a couple of really bad calls in Bama’s favor. Being interviewed by the lady on his way to the locker room, she asked him how he felt about the calls.
Approximately:
“We’ll what did you think? You were watching the same game. I think you and the guys upstairs should discuss those calls at length and tell people what you think, good or bad
