Brian Kelly looked like a lock coming into this weekend; but now don't think he should get it
Beamer deserves it just a little more - knocking TWO teams out of the playoffs 2 weeks in a row as a heavy underdog?
either one would be a decent choice, and props to Kelly for getting LSU ahead of schedule and winning the West; but I think what Beamer has done is even more remarkable

Shane Beamer 100%.
No one who just let Jimbo drag his nuts across his face should be up for any coaching awards.

Beamer. They went from looking like a basement dweller to a team that looks like they could line up against anyone right now.

Heupel is still in the running too IMO

Beamer sealed it up yesterday.

Brian Kelly will get the "ahead of schedule" award

He sure did better than Kirby’s first year

JIMBO…
Who else could squeeze 10 mil a year for 5 wins.

Kirby deserves it. To Run the table again this season after losing all they lost to the draft (and losing defensive coordinator) is an incredible achievement.

Josh Heupel is your coach of the year.
10-2 record in 2nd year.
Finished season 2nd in final SEC standings.
Going to NY6 Bowl.
This is pretty amazing considering what Heupel took over. He took over a 3-7 team, that had 31 transfers, Under NCAA investigation, and scholarship restrictions as self imposed penalties. UT was the hardest job at the time he took over. Haven’t had a 10 win season since 2007 and he does it in his 2nd year. What he has done is pretty remarkable considering what he had to deal with when he arrived.

Blind test, it’s Kirby.
Most impressive this morning? Beamer

Brian Kelly's first year was about two decades ago

I agree that traditionally that is they way it's done but personally I feel like that is making it a runner-up award. Seeing coaches with multiple championships but on one COTY is silly.

Smart. Beamer is a feel good story but not enough work yet.

It’ll either be Smart, Heupel, or Beamer.

Maybe he'll win the Coach That Did Better Than Kirby's First Year Award
Dan Mullen keeps his on the mantle

Heupel is the favorite with Beamer second.
Leach will not get much of a mention but State with an 8-4 record (4-4 in the conference) was pretty solid against a very difficult schedule.
