I think we will be good at WR

I think that it is extremely difficult to figure out what is a development/talent issue and what is a scheme issue with us right now.

I like Law and Bond. Prentice has shown some flashes. Not sure what to think of Earle at this point.

You’re probably correct but all of these guys are young and at most have been in the program for 2 years. With a different system that emphasizes getting the ball to our playmakers in space instead of what we currently have, all of these guys can be lethal.

JoJo needs to hold on to the dang ball.

We have the second most talented WR room in the country after Ohio State. We have always preferred WRs that are in the 5-10 to 6 foot range under Saban. A Steve Smith body type at WR is harder for many DBs to defend against than those big 6-4 WRs.

What I believe we have is a coaching issue in the WR room. The scheme isn't helping either.

After the Texas game Urban Meyer all but said Alabama doesn't have the talent at WR and that we need to play the young WRs. So, Urban knew the talent of the young WRs versus the upper classmen WRs.

And, Holden is out of position. I think Holden should be used as a hybrid TE.

Our upperclassmen WRs are Jones-Bell, Holden, Burton, and Harrell. We have been playing the young WRs. I think our problem is a system too complicated and bland for them to make a difference.

I don’t think Wiggins is a problem. BoB expects our WRs and QB to see things the exact same way. It takes time for QBs and WRs to build that chemistry.

I think that a new OC will come in and be very happy with his stable of RBs/WRs.

I don't know HOW good these guys are, but I do know they are good enough to have a very good offense with someone who plays to their skillsets. Are they are bunch of NFL guys? Dunno. Are they guys who a creative OC can use to make big plays? Absolutely.

Mickey Mouse as OC would do more with that group than BoB!

Yea - the lack of creativity or adjustment to use guys in ways where they can suceed at their current skill/experience level instead of seeing every player as an android pawn on a board with no difference in skillset is................frustrating.

Yea - it feels like Holden got his shot this year and it just didn't work out. I think we know what he is at this point. Much like Javon Baker, I'm guessing he leaves, goes to a smaller place and has a nice year (Javon has 41 catche for 558 yds and 4 TDs at UCF).

No clue what Burton will do.

This was always a concern with BooB. You read the coverage right 95%+ of the time, you are Randy Moss, or you fail. There is no other potential outcome and a refusal (or inability) to deviate from that system was bound to fail at the college level as soon as you don't have at least one guy who falls into the first category and is therefore almost always open. Metchie and Slade always got it right, and so Bryce always had somewhere to go with the ball last year. No one in our current WR room has the experience or knowledge necessary to read coverage correctly all the time, and it has completely fricked the offense this year despite the run game and OL being markedly improved.
