LSU is 3-1 versus the Dogs in Atlanta. I wonder how confident those dog fans were during the three loses.

2003 LSU Tigers 34 Georgia Bulldogs 13
2005 LSU Tigers 14 Georgia Bulldogs 34
2011 LSU Tigers 42 Georgia Bulldogs 10
2019 LSU Tigers 37 Georgia Bulldogs 10

Total points over 4 matchups LSU 127 UGA 67

I think this years matchup if LSU can get there will the closest in the series.

Based on history, we know LSU doesn't have a chance.

I believe LSU was sizable favorites in all 4 of those games, even 05. This would be the first time UGA went into expecting to win

I think in 2005, we were expecting to win with that squad. At least, I was.

2003, we were happy to be there, and 2019 I don't think anyone really expected to win.

2011 is hazy for me.

2003 LSU Tigers 34 Georgia Bulldogs 13

—-not confident but was surprised it wasn’t closer like earlier in the year

2005 LSU Tigers 14 Georgia Bulldogs 34

——with Shockley back from injury, confident

2011 LSU Tigers 42 Georgia Bulldogs 10

——-not confident at all, was surprised how well we did first half

2019 LSU Tigers 37 Georgia Bulldogs 10

——-when we lost our best WRs, I got worried when burrow threw himself a pass and then outran our entire defense I knew it was over

More than any fan base, LSU seems to think games with no players the same and different coaching staffs will be influenced by the past.

I have no doubt LSU will present a great challenge but Nick Saban, Ed O, Joe Burrow, DJ Shockley will have no influence.

Meh those were different LSU teams.
This one has a couple bad losses and narrow wins over teams we skull fricked. It’s like those times mizzou won the east. Somebody from the west is required to show up.

LSU was ranked higher, favored, and had championship level teams going into all four of those games.

So 2005 was a pleasant surprise.

I have a lot of respect for the coaching and talent on this years UGA team. It would take a lot luck for us to win this game.

We are a proud sec team, we expected to win them all.

That said, you had the better team in all but one of those.

I thnk we have the better squad this time but I dont expect lau not to be confident.

When you start looking at composites and unit rankings, they tell the talw.

2003 - Many expected us to lose the rematch. We curb stomped those expectations and UGA with 201 yards rushing by a Freshman Justin Vincent.

In 2005, we came in after winning 10 straight but after a whiff by our Right Tackle, JaMarcus Russell suffered a broken collarbone on a sack and we played with a greenhorn Matt Flynn who wasn’t ready or 3.5 quarters. We got boatraced.

In 2011, LSU was clearly the better team but played sluggishly on offense in the fist half. Tyrann and the run game opened up and blew your doors off in the 2nd half.

Many UGA fans were deluded pre SECCG in 2019 that Kirby and your D could stop Burrow and Co. like the rest, you were humbled.

So a pretty fair assessment.

Stupid thread. LSU hasn’t won the west yet and UGA would be a 7-10 point favorite over LSU.

What do any of these have to do with 2022?

My thought is that I’m pretty sure 2003 games are irrelevant to the outcome of the 2022 game.

2003: I felt good about Georgia's chances because I thought they left a lot of points on the field in the first game. I was not expecting the defense to get run over like that.

2005: I felt good about this one too because Shockley was looking healthier going into that game.

No chance in 2011 or 2019. 2011 was a mismatch everywhere and the 2019 offense was nowhere near good enough to score as many points as it would have taken.

It was 24-7 already when Russell got hurt and it was in the second half.
