Texag7, Daniel Figurelli-pretty shitty comment about Sark. I don’t go around telling everyone you could eat corn thru a picket fence w/ those teeth of yours.

There isn't much evidence either team can be a championship level program

Cutty Sark vs Jimbo Beam

I'll say Texas, but only because Texas a&m is in a REALLY bad spot right now.
Texas is still "rebuilding", but the way they're giving away games, and the fact that they've lost their last 6 true road games in a row, is pretty staggering.
Sark has assembled a decent roster, and the FPI/SP+/other number metrics say as much, but they're still not scoring more points than half of their opponents under Sarkisian, which is... kind of the whole point

That is an interesting way to look at it and it certainly seems plausible. I am too lazy to look it up, but it seems the move to the SEC certainly improved the talent level A&M has been able to bring in.
Night and day difference. Baylor and Tech should have been left behind when the SWC folded. Having 2 additional P5 programs in the state diluted everyone's rosters. TCU joining the Big 12 made it even worse. Plus UH as a high level G5 program.
Assuming you're an LSU fan, imagine having 2-3 other SEC programs in Louisiana recruting against LSU for LA talent every year. Every time LSU drops a big game, those coaches are in your recruits living rooms telling the kids they can rep Louisiana in the SEC better than LSU can. Play for the same conference title, on the same national stage, and everything. Would LSU have had the consistent success they've enjoyed under those circumstances?
Now with all the major programs in the SEC together, there will finally be some real differentiation between A&M/Texas, and those other programs. And I think A&M and Texas both will have more consistent talent pipelines because of it.

"Represent Texas in the SEC" is a strong pull for recruits and A&M has played that card well. Long term, Texas will be better, same as it ever was.

Yep, totally agree about being the only SEC school in the state helping us. There is no way La could support two SEC schools. We would be in the same boat as Ole Miss/Miss State.
I do believe however that A&M joining the SEC helped LSU with TX recruiting in a back-arse way. You guys obviously were selling the SEC to kids which created trickle down exposure to us as we were the closest non-Texas conference school.
Now that Texas and to a lesser extent OU is joining, I am torn on how it will affect recruiting. A&M and LSU both can now sell the fact we will be playing more games in the state, and again get that trickle down recognition as Texas becomes more of an SEC state. Of course, diluting the overall talent pool with more SEC schools will likely offset that, but as to how much, I have no idea.
Hell, I have given up on getting a handle on recruiting and why kids go where they go anyway. With the Top 100 kids, its definitely a national game (or at least vastly regional) with state ties being less important than ever. A little less so in say Louisiana and Alabama maybe.

Which football program is on a better trajectory and why?
The answer is anybody but Texas A&M, rough week for the Aggies.

Texas was once a championship level program. But where is the evidence it can be again?

If you had asked me before the season I would have said saggy. They had a decade of advantage over UT.
I just wished we'd never added SC, Arkie, saggy or Ut. I much prefer playing Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, UGA, Ole Piss, Kentucky, Bama and State. For some reason I welcome OU.
We will probably be shoved into the old SWC division with UT, aggy, Mizzou, OU and Arkie along with Ole Piss and State.

What kind of question even is this? It's about the coach...
What evidence was there LSU would be a championship program in 2000?
What evidence was there Alabama would win again before Saban?
What evidence was there Georgia would ever win one after 1980?
Tennessee is winning again after being a joke for two decades.
Texas gets the right coach and it can be right back at a championship level. Just like any program.
