Gus’ coaching tree hasn’t produced thus far as HC.

Rhett Lashlee: 3-3 thus far at SMU, with another loss likely today. Starting 3-4 at SMU after what Sonny Dykes did there is looking like a big “yikes.” SMU appeared to be “up and coming” and now they seem to be reverting back to what they were beforehand.
Chip Lindsey: 15-19 at Troy, fired, and now Troy is 6-2 coming off a huge road game win at USA.
I seriously can’t see any way Rhett Lashlee is considered at Auburn. We can put all that JABA talk to rest.
Just some observations…

Eli Drinkwitz is another one.
“high energy” Dilly Dilly is actually doing the best.

I mean the reasoning of the people that want to fire Gus and then hire someone exactly like him is astounding

I wouldn’t really consider Chip Lindsey part of Gus’s coaching tree but meh

He was an offensive analyst then OC… not sure what else to call him.
Lindsey’s offense was slightly different from Gus… but still very similar.

I would. He coached under him.

The Athletic has an article by Stuart Mandel about the 12 “smartest” CFB hires in the past dozen years.
It’s loaded with names we’ve been discussing in the Harsin replacement thread (I would have posted it there, but I didn’t want to get sticky from the overspray in the latest pissing contest).
Amongst those discussed: Rhule & Aranda at Baylor, Stoops at UK, Clawson at Wake, and #1 Fickell at Cincy. Oh, and Bill Clark
As an aside, TIL that Baylor had exactly 1 commit when Rhule was hired in December 2016, but he managed to sign the 5th rated class in the Big12 (39th overall) despite the turmoil surrounding the program. And Mack Rhoades, the Baylor AD that hired both Rhule and Aranda, had previously hired Tom Herman at Houston. Would be nice if he was the P5 guy we were going after (allegedly)…

Rig was probably sleeping when that was announced

He is in a close one against Vandy right now.
Battle for least of the east, pretty sure we have worst of the west locked up.

So Will Muschamp is under the Gus tree too?
Just no bro

Who do we place ‘champ under?

Chip Lindsey literally coaches the offense for Gus at UCF…again.

Wasn't Lindsey one of the ones that Gus flip flopped on letting call plays and taking over?
Anyways, Chip Lindsey cut his teeth as an OC in college under Todd Monken and Todd Graham before Auburn.

That was every offensive coordinator he had.

How will Lindsey do once UCF moves to the Big 12?
Honest question

Like most programs that jump up in divisions, they will struggle at first. I would think it would take a few years to get the jims and joes needed to compete at a higher level every week
