The girl shouldn't have yelled, "bye, Bamabutterfingers." That truth cut deep.

Come on.. assault?
You are correct. According to GA law its battery, but I don't know how the laws in Tennessee are written.

Back in the day at Legion field, near the end of the games, the Birmingham police would stand arm and arm with Billy clubs in hand along the end zones. The P.A. announcer would say, "The Birmingham police dept. would like to remind you to not attempt to enter the field at the conclusion of today's game... Thank you". I always wanted to see some drunk try it though... lol

Assault is a legal matter with criminal consequences.
I’m no attorney, but it’s actually not assault. Assault is when you make someone fear that you are imminently going to harm them; battery is when you actually do it. He committed the worse of the two.
She didn’t see it coming and he hit her from behind totally unprovoked.
Anyone here making any excuse for this kind of behavior needs to seriously reevaluate himself.

That would be better, honestly, than this idea that players and fans can mix ... with players getting a free shot.
What if fans decided to get their free shot ? Because with the Third Down mentality - they eventually will.

^^^^^^
This. But in this culture, that's the least of his concerns.

Obviously the girl is at fault. She’s white, therefore wrong. End of story.

What a low life piece of shite. I hope Saban takes out the trash in this case. fricking loser
As an Alabama fan, it's embarrassing to have players like that on our team

That would almost be a fair point if Jermaine Burton were in anyway responsible for site security or had any authority of any kind, which he did not.
My question had nothing to do with Burton as I said repeatedly. What he did was after the girl had walked away, so there is no excuse if he did hit her. My only debate on Burton is if he actually hit her, not what the consequences are if he did. That part is pretty cut and dry as far as I'm concerned.
I was asking hypothetical questions about rushing the field in general, which I guess I should have known better on this site since all most people want to do is shite all over everything. I fricked up there and should have known better.
I was only interested in if the number of people breaking a law is a consideration since you brought up what to look at legally. I wouldn't think it would, as I showed in my hypothetical example.
But again, all anyone here wants to do is look for people to shite on if they even remotely appear to be defending the guy. So screw it at this point, you can all just be mad about the shite you make up in your head.

You couldn't get admitted even as an undergrad where I obtained my legal knowledge, but that might not be saying all that much.
Kiss my arse. I doubt you could design software that has generated millions of dollars in revenue. Most lawyers are pieces of shite anyway who practice ways to manipulate and get around the law. World would be better off with the majority of you.

Point being ... is the gladiator field sacred ground ? Are the gladiators beyond reproach ? Because, if so, then police should pull out the riot batons ... not to protect the gladiators, but rather the spectators.
I suspect that wouldn't be a good look - as the entire spectacle is predicated on the spectators having an imaginary bond with the gladiators.

It amazes me what falls under "assault" these days. Was it dumb? Yes. Assault? Hell no.

Legally the instant you physically touch someone without their consent it’s battery.
