I’m sure these are subject to change but all 3 of our performances so far have a 96 rating or higher or Torvik. For reference, we only had two such performances after the Gonzaga game last year (Baylor and South Carolina). Probably because we pretty much always had a bad defensive rating

Those rims were the worst I have seen at the college level in a long time, both teams had a ton of shots that were halfway down and then shot out of the cylinder. I will probably watch their next home game to see if their rims are the same as last night's or they just made them extra stiff since we are known as a team that shoots a ton of threes.

Clowney is special, I think he is gonna have a similar impact for us that Jaylin Williams had for Arkansas. I think Miller, Sears, and Clowney are probably our three best players.

A little seasoning on offense and he will be a star. He's already looking like he's going to be a beast on the glass and protecting the rim.

One bad note. Late in the second half, Burnett took a hard foul and came up favoring the bad leg.

Though we played pretty well last night for our first road game against a contrasting style/older opponent for the first 33 minutes of the game. At the 7 minute mark we pretty clearly, as a group, let our guard down. South immediately capitalized on it and we were unable to turn our competitive edge back on (because you can very rarely do that). Glad we had a big cushion or that could have gotten scary in the last 90 seconds.

Should be a good lesson for a bunch of young guys moving forward.

- Miller is a slightly shorter Jabari Smith. He's going to be a Top 5 pick and has the highest ceiling of any player we've had in my lifetime.

- Clowney is such a good all around player that brings so much to the floor. He defends without fouling very well, attacks the glass on both ends and is incredibly athletic.

- Sears is a good player and a great addition - he does have a slight tendency to kind of go into hero ball mode if we get down to about 15 or 12 in the shot clock.

- Great to see JQ back and moving around well. Throw him into this guard rotation and wow. Bradley didn't have a great game last night. Kind of had a "welcome to college basketball" game with that crafty D2 guy backing him down repeatedly. Still love what he brings to the table.

- Tired of watching Gurley. Looking forward to Welch getting back and bumping him out of rotation. I just don't see how he keeps getting minutes.

Kick the shite out of Jax State and head out west at 4-0

I think we are around the same age, and I would disagree on this. But Miller is certainly top 3.

I would say pre-injury Antonio McDyess is 1, Gerald Wallace 2. Both just never reached their ceilings for a variety of reasons.

Miller is in that conversation though, and he will get better every game he plays. He has perennial all pro talent. Can he ascend to those heights is the question.

I like Miller a lot. He makes the game look so easy for him. With all the talent on this team and the way they play with so much effort especially on defense and rebounding..it's hard to not be really excited about this team!!

I would agree with you on McDyess, but Wallace was extremely one dimensional. Wallace could jump out of a gym but he was years into his pro career before he developed a reliable jumper.

Miller just looks so smooth, and he plays defense! I think last night was an anomaly, but I hope his mid-range game becomes more dangerous as the season goes.

I'm starting to get the sense that "gritty but mostly untalented upperclassman who gets more minutes than his production warrants" is going to be a common theme with Oats. I think his 3 favorite players at Alabama have been Herb, Rojas, and Gurley. Obviously one of those ain't like the others though.

Alabama Women’s Basketball Signs No. 12 Recruiting Class

Essence Cody, Reychel Douglas and Naomi Jones will join the Tide in the fall of 2023

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry signed three student-athletes to the class of 2023, inking Essence Cody, Reychel Douglas and Naomi Jones to National Letters of Intent.  ESPNW ranked the Crimson Tide's incoming class at No. 12 nationally for the early signing period.

Nate made a mistake putting JQ in when he did. It made our guys feel like the game was over and we lost our intensity. We win that game by 30 if that doesn’t happen. He should have waited until Friday and naturally worked JQ into the flow of the game

Gerald couldn’t shoot. Athletically Gerald is no doubt #1 tho IMO. He was a freak.

Miller is the best all round freshman we have ever had. He is even better than Colin. Respect to Colin tho, he carried a very mediocre team to the 2nd round and probably would have went further if we didn’t run into one of the greatest teams ever

For me, I'd have to go with McDyess and Sprewell. Before he went nuts, Spree was pretty special. McDyess has always been one of my favorite Bama players.
Humble, talented guy that worked his arse off. Mo Williams was another top talent guy too.
Need to see more of Miller against top competition but he looks really good so far.
Need to see less Gurley and Miles is just not reliable to me. Excited to see what Welch brings. I think the rotation for the forwards is good but Oats will have a tough time finding minutes for all the guards that need to play.
Not sure if I like Q and Sears out there together yet. I like the idea of 2 point guards out there together if they can work out who is controlling the offense and it doesn't hurt us defensively with their height.
Lastly, with our athleticism, I'd like to see us push the pace a little more. We can get a little static in the half court. If we are hitting our threes, it's not as big a deal.

Disagree immensely. The game was over. The monkey of his first game is off his back now. I thought it was an excellent coaching decision.

We won. Did you have money on Bama to cover the spread or something? JQ didn't play good. It is something to learn from and something to work on for next time. Oats wanted to get him in while the bullets were still flying. I'm glad he saw real action and got the feedback for where he is.

I think all our newcomers have a shown a lot of promise.

Nick Pringle & Noah Clowney have the potential to be really scary! They literally seem like they can block everything.
