I blame:

Harbert
Leath
Allen Green
Gouge

In that order....

Sorry but it’s absurd not to place some blame on Gus here. He might even be #1. The dearth of OL recruiting from 2017-2020 has this offense in hell.

You can blame whoever it was that prevented us from hiring Kirby in 2012 because he wanted to still coach Alabama in the natty against Notre Dame.

He created a monster at Georgia and we got stuck with Gus. Now we can’t recruit any talent out of Georgia High Schools because of how far ahead of us they are in every aspect.

Without Gus we wouldn’t have had 2013, the Prayer and Kick 6.

With that being said I’d trade all of that for a stable, solid built competitive program recruiting at a high level.

But if you said anybody but Nix, it’s your fault.

Gus 60% for no OL recruiting

Harsin 30% for not recruiting OL in the portal.

10% everything else.

That was nice and all but imagine where we’d have been from 2013-present had we hired him.

Instead we’re looking at 20+ years of irrelevancy (outside of 2013 and 2017) while Kirby has a monster at Georgia.

Auburn football cannot be successful without landing elite talent from the state of Georgia. That’s the root of most of our issues.

Harbert

This has become a name I don't ever want to hear again. Having PTB running things is just the nature of the beast, but at least have competent ones doing it.

This is silly to me because Harbert has done more for Auburn University than almost anybody. A couple of message board rumors about his football involvement shouldn’t even almost corrupt his name.

Then he can continue with whatever he does for the academic side, but I choose to believe Philip Marshall's very specific reporting and don't want to hear his name associated with pulling the strings around the football program every again.

That is just silly. You and no one else has any idea that Kirby could have built Auburn up to what he did UGA. Being the instate school in Ga gave him some serious ties to High Schools there.

Auburn would have never given Kirby what UGA did either. They would have poked and infrared until he said frick it and left. Dont kid yourself

Auburn is not UGA. And it never will be. Georgia is the in state power school for one of the best recruiting grounds in America. All Kirby did was tap in to that and make more connections. That is not easy from out of state.

Kirby paid players and was allowed to get away with it. He didn’t tap into $hit

We aren’t fricking dead. We are just down with an overwhelmed staff. 2 auburn standard recruiting cycles and some decent transfer help on the lines of scrimmage and we are back to being a 9-3/8-4 team.

3 years with an elite recruiting staff with coaches that can develop and we are back in the Top 10.

Agreed but expectations need to be centered. And we want it built right not a quick band aid
