The big boy is making an impact. He is a handful for the OL.

He damn sure put the wood to the big Hog QB late in the game.

ETA: Have we ever had a freshman DL with this big of an impact as Oatis? He regularly takes on two blockers.

He's a bad man!! They couldn't block him up front and I would love for him to be the fullback in a goal line package.
DJ Dale played ball as well yesterday.
Lawson stepped and played a good game.
We was subbing guys in getting them some big time game experience which is good.

Oatis was in the backfield all day. He's a nightmare matchup for anybody.
The last freshman DL I remember making that much impact was Ashawn Robinson.

He has been very impressive. You never see him get washed out of a play.

Hard to wash out that 350 lol. He is sneaky quick too.

I mean even when he's getting doubled he's a rock. Being massive and strong helps, but he obviously has a natural understanding of how to use leverage to just kind of park himself in a spot and shut down the running lanes up the middle. A lot of it is just being a physical freak, but he's also a pretty smart player. He makes very few mistakes for a freshman.

Very impressed by him and what the dline has shown so far, this is an Oatis thread but props to Golding, also. He has this defense playing very well on all levels, we’re not perfect by any means and have room to grow but I love that we’re improving each week.

He knows how to occupy space/gaps and he knows nobody can take it from him. Nobody is gonna move him without a double team.
Arkansas was leaving 31 unblocked and keying their zone read off of him. Were they doubling Oatis in the middle? It's a bold strategy but I don't think teams can expect to have much success if you are blocking those guys 1v1.

His play was outstanding

He definitely played a great game. He’s been very impressive this year and I love the way he occupies two blockers.

I said this off-season Oatis is the truth. We don't offer kids at 14 unless he's special. And, that offer remained open for 4 years. Unprecedented.

Yep, on one play he tossed KJ Jefferson like a rag doll. Big and quick!

I don’t recall anyone on the DL having this kind of an impact so early.
With the injuries to Eboigbe and Young his emergence is one of the biggest stories of the year as far as impact.
Without Oatis that Arkansas game goes much differently up front IMO.

His disruption of the 2 point conversion attempt was huge, allowed Lawson and HTT to stop 'em short, when the Hogs had all the momentum.

The guy in front of KJJ in the pic was actually Byron Young but Oatis did assist with the tackle. Also of note I heard Eboigbe was a late scratch and did not even play making Byron Young playing crucial and he had a sprained ankle he played through. Kudos to him.

He's been playing well. Between the weight loss and finding his way onto the field, it is clear he put in a lot of hard work.

He's the next great Bama DL. We were due..it's been a few years since we had a DL teams had to game plan around. Once he really knows what he's doing, he may be practically unstoppable.
