I think the AP voters (mostly people who have no clue about football) should have to bet money on their rankings.
They’re incentivized to get readership from larger fan bases, not to be accurate.

Their recruiting and perceived elite nature of their head coach. Although if A&M finishes 8-5 again, I doubt we will see them ranked so highly heading into 2023.
