Anyone watch the Auburn football review this week?

Harsin clearly looks checked out and done. I have been a staunch supporter of him from day 1 but he knows he doesn’t have a fighting chance. Andy is trying but Harsin is just giving him nothing. He just sounds dejected and defeated.
If he beats Alabama last year how much of his tenure is changed?

It’s crazy to think outside of the TAMU and UGA games last year, we were in position to win every other game in the fourth quarter. Instead we finish 6-7. Crazy

So really we could have been 11-1.

That Alabama outcome doesn’t really affect this year’s results. Maybe we get Khurtiss Perry, but recruiting doesn’t change this year’s roster at all.
He’s likely still in rough water no matter what.

Yep.
The first 58 minutes of the bammer game were an anomaly when taken in context of everything that has happened since the 2nd quarter of the MSU game.
He knows he is a dead man walking.

Regardless of what has been said or not said to Harsin about his employment at Auburn, he knows that the current state of the football program is unsatisfactory. He is just waiting for the hatchet to fall.

He survived one attempt to have him fired, heard exactly what needed to change, then did none of it. He will get what he deserves, and as a result become very wealthy. I don't feel the least bit sorry for him.

I can only imagine.
I’ve watched AFR every year until this one.
Haven’t seen one episode one in 2022.

I think he's always acted checked out. I think Boise was just on cruise control by the time he got the job.
The 2 other places he's gone he's come into good situations with good rosters (Arky st and AU) and after 1 year both teams were significantly worse.
But no haven't watch the Auburn Review show in years. Just isn't interesting when you can watch the entire condensed game on youtube in like 30 minutes.

Not to argue, but offensive line has been an issue for years.
He’s not made it better, but we were not turning out pros tackle to tackle on the offensive line.
Robinson, the JUCO transfer from 2013- played for the Giants-name eludes me.
Maybe one more?

He’s always been that way. We should have seen this coming from the start. Has the personality of a tree stump. I’m sure that works great for recruiting.

I think it could have changed quite a bit. Much of the fanbase would have gotten behind him if we had pulled that off. Certainly none of those off-season shenanigans with boosters or whatever would have happened. Maybe we could have landed a better transfer QB than Calzada with more optimism around the program?

I have not watched this year, but don't they film the coach Q&A immediately after the game?
I do think he's done and knows it (even if he's not been told), but immediately after the game, especially such a poop show, I don't know that I'd rely on his demeanor to tell me much.

I thought he made a bad call in the IB in not going for two in OT. Starting kicker and QB out, #2 QB so dinged up he was visibly limping, and Alabama being deeper at every position...they were going to outlast us.
I wanted him to call the kids together and say "OK guys, win or lose, game ends on the next play" and call a fake. Would have been such an Auburn way to win anyway.
If we win, he's a hero. If we lose, he addresses the media post-game and says "the kids did everything they could to win the game but that was my call, and I'd do it again."
Not suggesting that alone should save his job this year, but if he had made that call, especially if we came up short, would you have more respect for him today? Serious question.

quote:Back in the day, it was pretty good - Dye, Bowden & Tubs would actually comment on the featured plays, and they would show ALL the key points of the game, including the other team's scoring plays. Dye in particular was pretty insightful in his comments about specific offensive playcalls and defensive alignments, and enjoyed calling out players by name when they excelled.

Sometime in the '00s, I think when Chiz took over, it became just an AU highlights show with Rod's radio call over the video of the plays, and only AU's good plays were highlighted. The commentary was mostly just coachspeak, all generalities and no specific plays, and the game footage became a much smaller part of the show, with more filler content.
However, the postgame locker room player segment is always interesting - although I'm not sure if they still show it following a loss (I couldn't bring myself to watch it after the Pedo State debacle).
The Auburn Football Videos YouTube Channel has a bunch of the old AFRs going back to the Barfield Era, and even has Shug's last AFR following the 1975 Iron Bowl.

When he didn't make that call, I began to seriously doubt both his coaching acumen and his commitment to that whole "4th and 1 mentality" bullshite he preached.
The guy who called the Statue of Liberty play in the 2006 Orange Bowl would have made that call, no question. I wonder why he lost his nerve since then.

It’s still crazy to me how we scored 3 points in that game

I would bet anything that Petersen made that call.

I watched it. Didn’t seem like he was particularly checked out at all. He was just conversing with Andy about the game. You must be reading things into it
