Auburn's Number One Job: Cut out the meddling

Auburn has a pretty good athletic program and it's a shame to see what they've been going through over the last few years.
I don't understand why they have so many people meddling in the affairs of their football program. They've been consistently noted for this sort of thing for some time now.
The only people who are going to want to come there are young, nominally talented coaches from the minor conferences who are willing to be micro-managed.
This is going to rule out getting people like Lane Kiffin and likely Prime Time wouldn't want to coach there either.
Once arriving, these guys will be in way over their head having to compete directly against Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Florida for recruits. No one is going to be able grind like that for years on end.
Auburn has to commit to eliminating the meddling or they'll have to be content with winning an SEC Championship every 10-15 years and winning one National Championship every 20-30 years. Somehow that has to be priority one for the school going forward.

Rumor has it Texas has the same problem boosters meddling and it’s been said that’s one of the big reasons Savin didn’t take the job at Texas.
But who knows whether it’s true or not

If you're going to compete at the top of college athletics, you need money backing you and every major program has problems with boosters somewhere.
Alabama went through it for several years and then they got desperate enough to hand the keys to the guy in charge. Auburn is probably going to have to do the same thing and with what our roster is going to look like in the next several years, that may just happen if the right person is out there. The problem is, there are far less Sabans in college football than there were 15 years ago. And nearly every program in the SEC is riding steeper curves in their ups and downs now. It will be more pronounced with NIL and boosters will become more numerous and combative. It's not just Auburn, but we appear to be playing the role of Tennessee at the moment.

It's the same stuff that has gone on at Texas, A&M and even SMU. Too many money people calling the shots.
Hell, SMU sits in Dallas, recruits all around, good school and they have forever been middle of the road..if that. Texas should be the perennial national team to beat but can't a title but every 40 years or so.
Money is the root of all evil and if you are donating 10, 20 50 mill on the reg you are gonna make sure YOU are running things.
If I have a partner and we going into a joint venture together and I pay for 60 percent of the expenses, I'm going to call the shots, qualified or not.

Not according to the NCAA's information which would be the folks that would know.

Auburn needs us here at Rent-A-Coach for five to ten years until their system gets better. Here at Rent-A-Coach we provide you with some of the better coaches in the nation for only a year or more without all those nasty buyouts. We pick up all those choice coaches that currently are between jobs or are are assistants and provide them to you at a bargain price. Right here is our Bob O’Brien model for the ridiculously low price of $8,000,000.00 per year. Just feel the Dan Mullen model over here available for rent or lease at just $11,000,000.00 per year. Of course all our models come with a slightly higher price of Rent-To-Own. Just what are you looking for today?

Thirteen years ago, Tom Yeager uttered one of the most chilling phrases in NCAA infractions history. Alabama football, he said, was “absolutely staring down the barrel of a gun,” in the infamous Albert Means case. He did not have to elaborate.

Interesting little nugget huh?

Going to need an establised, credible coach to turn the keys over to. It can't be some dingleberry like Harsin.

If you are going to post something about major infractions, at least get the numbers straight instead of an old picture. Bama is catching up (5-7), but we went from 7-8... But we all know TAMU has been caught the most. LINK =
Texas A&M University, College Station (9)
Auburn University (8)
University of South Carolina, Columbia (8)
Mississippi State University (7)
University of Alabama (7)
University of Georgia (7)
University of Florida (6)
University of Kentucky (6)
University of Missouri, Columbia (6)
University of Mississippi (5)
University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (4)
University of Tennessee, Knoxville (4)
Louisiana State University (3)
Vanderbilt University (1)
Less...

No problem. Here at Rent-A-Coach we have new models coming in all the time. In a few days we should have the luxury Geoff Collins model coming in. If you would tell us a little more of what you have in mind, perhaps we have just the coach you are seeking.

How many NCs has AU played for in the last 15 years? How many times were they in the conversation in Nov?

The state of Florida produces more elite high school football players than Texas and the proliferation of 7 on 7 in the state of Texas renders many of those they do produce not ready for SEC.

I'd say they've eased off a lot now considering Texas has an AD capable of being in charge and a head coach, picked by the same AD, that has been promised the reigns.
Unfortunately for Sarkisian, if the losses keep mounting, we'll be right back to where we were in 2016 asking boosters to write checks to get us out of another mess, which starts the entire cycle over again.
It'd be a lot easier if he won more often and didn't lose games that should be not only wins, but easy wins... but we're seeing how that's panned out thus far. At least it's only year 2

No, I was thinking of the NCAA’s press conference where they outlined their findings on infractions (also referred to cheating) and the corresponding sanctions for the University of Alabama.
