I’m pretty sure this will get flamed out on here, but can someone help me understand what’s happened to the coaching staff. With recruiting in the top 3 for the last few years, why do we consistently see

Weak interior middle of d line, no one stands out, only linebackers.

Secondary that doesn’t play the ball

Offensive line getting pushed around, no running game when we need it.

average wide receiver play.

You’re kidding yourself if you think young running around for his life every play has a future.. and why are the twins or other llineman not seeing the field? This is especially hard to watch given the recruiting. Are they missing evaluating talent? (Was never an issue 2008-2016) is it the competition in recruiting with NIL?

I seriously think head coach can’t be happy with any of this based on what we saw his first 5 years at Bama, and this may be error on my part but as a team, they look much smaller wth! Lol..

These are legitimate questions.

If you will watch interviews with coach Saban, you will understand why they don't play the ball. We are playing it this year more than any other year. But the short answer is knocking the ball out of the recievers hands as soon as they go to catch it is a far greater % of an incompletion than playing the ball. Playing the ball leads to a much higher percent of dynamic plays for the other team.

You definitely don't understand how defense work.

Google in and out of ball phrase. That's Saban defense

DL line is playing well this year.
OL is being pushed by younger guys l. Saban mentioned on the show.

WR isn't average. Its more of playcalling with lack of creative routes for WRs. Its not the kid. It's the coaching.

Interior DL stops the run, EDGE/OLBs get after the QB. That's how it has always been with our defense, with a handful of exceptions like Dareus, Allen, and Quinnen.

Not seeing the big problem with our interior D line. They've been good.

Secondary is talented, but they need to play more sound. Golding's defenses generally get better as the season progresses.

WR was bound to see some drop off after the ridiculous talent we've had there. I think that we just haven't had that dominant receiver step up, or maybe we don't have one. We definitely have some good receivers though, just gotta find out who can take the top off the defense.

Online looks better than last year, which isn't saying much, but I actually think that they'll improve more and more as the season goes on, and we get the right pieces in there.

I just finished talking about how the WR play has fallen off a cliff with Holman Wiggins. Wiggins didn't develop Jameson and here we are again waiting to see what another transfer can do. Locksley is one of the best OC/WR/recruiters to ever do it in the last 25 years but Wiggins ain't showing me shite.

We have continued to sign 4 and 5 star WRs under Wiggins but none of those guys has distinguished themselves. Wiggins bears some fault for that.

but Pawlllllllllllll we are young in this spot. We have one experience guy hurt and another freshmen who is potentially the one who can take the top off also hurt. Not going to get up tight yet until we play ark.

He said this:

What OL and WRs do you see being drafted in the first round? How about round 2?

Saban is a great recruiter and a great organizer. He is a pretty good X/O coach. But his weakest skill I have seen is hiring coaches. His hiring skills is very hit/miss with some questionable ones for sure. The worst was Locksley at OC.

JC Latham looks like first round potential. The WRs currently starting look like later round picks right now.

Man oh man. He has a coaching tree as good as anyone in the last few decades. But okay.

It's you again with another dumb post. Geez! Saban is typically lights out with his hires. But, even the GOAT makes mistakes.

Exactly, thats what I'm saying. He makes most his mistakes hiring coaches. And keeping bad ones to be PC.

Yea, well, I just know when we have an opponent at 3rd and > 10 yards, I concede a first down.

Yes, and rightfully so.

quote:

Weak interior middle of d line, no one stands out, only linebackers.

What's weak about them? No one has done anything up the middle on us this season? We're giving up 1.84 yards per rush and have allowed 62 yards per game on the ground through 4 games. We are Top 3 nationally in every rushing category.

quote:

Secondary that doesn’t play the ball

Safeties play the ball. Corners play the man unless in phase. Same as it has always been with Saban, and same as it will always be.

quote:

Offensive line getting pushed around, no running game when we need it.

When have we needed it? Roydell slipping on 4th and 1 v. Texas is the only blemish here. We are Top 10 in every rushing category, and our 7.29 yards per rush leads the country.

No point in even going into the rest of it.

The twins aren't playing because they aren't very good. The rest of the high profile guys were have signed are starting or in the rotation, so I don't know who you think is missing. Latham starts. Booker is seeing time with the 1st team.

They are smaller because that's what linemen are now. Its not 2010 anymore.

Get off my lawn.

Our defense has given up 11 first downs on 59 3rd down attempts. That's 18.9% - 2nd in the country.
