What Type of Football Do You Want @ Auburn?

I want no spread, no gimmick, tough and hardnosed football.
I want a stout D-Line and plenty of speed in the back end of the defense.
I want an O-Line that never allows any pressure whatsoever rushing only 3.
I want 2 backs in the backfield and and a 2 TE set most downs.
I want speed, size and reliable hands at receiver.
I want a QB with an IQ over 130.
We can dream, right?
Wake me up when we get there.

I want offensive fireworks with a defense capable of getting better throughout the year. See 2010 Auburn or 2019 LSU. I mainly want offensive fireworks and have been begging for it since 2015 yet here we are.

Winning
You want no spread offense at all? What year is this?

Sam Pittman football.
Saban won’t live forever and that football will always win in the meantime.

I would love to emulate what Ryan Day has going on at OSU. Took over a good thing but looks to be a great recruiter and offensive minded coach that is maintaining success all his own. Defenses are decent but add some of the recruits from the south more and that can be shored up in the trenches to be a tougher defense.

I definitely want an offense that is spread based and possibly leans more towards the pass game but nothing like an Air Raid maybe a cousin of the Air Raid with power runs.
I would like a base 4-2-5 defense that is multiple that can go into odd fronts as well. Depending upon the opponents scheme be able to play solid zone coverage and when in man be very good at it.
I would like to win special teams every week and it doesn’t have to be trick plays.
Other than that I want to see fun exciting football. Kind of like our basketball team. We may lose some games but it’s almost always fun watching them play.

All I want is a team that I believe can win every game and shows that effort on the field.
Don’t care if we run pistol, pro or triple option as long as we put more points on the board than the other guys.
And I want to win our bowl games.
AU should never lose more than 3-4 regular season games. That’s what I want.

I would like to see coaches that can adjust to the situation of the game. I dont care what type of offense or defense Auburn runs. If we are getting beat on defense i want a coach to make adjustments and stop it. Same on offense if they are keyed in on stopping the run we kill them with short passes. Well balanced offensively and defensively is what i would like to see. Auburn has been since tubs, either good on offense and weak on defense or vice versa. Surely someone can figure out how to be good on both sides at the same time.

I want Gus 2009-2014 offense.
I have no idea why he doesn’t run it anymore.
I was at the SEC championship game in 13 when Auburn rushed for about 600 yards. It was beautiful.

Saban got the substitution rules changed.

Organized, fundamentally sound, and productive.
I don’t care about style or method, just give me the three qualities above.

Yep. This. Though frankly isn’t even the trenches they need. Safety and LB speed is their main weakness and a ton of why they give up as many big plays as they do. They are good in a box, but struggle some in space and over the top.
Offensively that is what we need to try and be. Defensively, be opportunistic. What they do right is go for aggression. They get a few stops or turnovers and game is basically over. They are okay giving up a big play score to do it.

Nice follow up and correction for where their D needs help and knew they needed more speed. I just like what they are doing overall at OSU. That Ryan Day is doing a really good job with that program after taking over for Urban.

Buddy of mine is a big OSU fan, so I’ve gotten a lot of insight on them. You look at their main losses at the end of the year, they always have some lunch pale type LB that is slow as hell coverings slot receivers or backs out of the backfield and getting torched. I remember one game against Bama they had a cat that was one of the lowest rated college players on athleticism by some power index cover Devonta Smith on multiple series in a row. Was insane.

Competitive. That’s all I care about. I want to win as bad as anyone, but being competitive would be a step in the right direction.
