1st Qtr, 2nd/3rd Qtr and 4th qtr Road Game Offensive splits - Florida, A&M, Auburn, Texas

BoB has put together nice initial scripts for almost all of these road games (minus Auburn where our patchwork OL was just overwhelmed). However, after those first few drives we've absolutely gone into a ditch before we start playing fast in the 4th (Florida as the exception, but we salted that away with a last drive that wasn't lots of yards but ended the game - and we only had 2 possessions).
I know our staff/Saban have all this information. They know it. BoB has to know it. The hope, I guess, has to be that because it happened again this year in a very similar fashion to last year that we HAVE to figure out things to adjust. Will we? I dunno. Hopefully so.

That is very interesting. I think he is overcomplicating every play by trying to be perfect. He needs to call the play, let Bryce read the defense, and take what they give us. We play too tight because we don't want to make any mistakes.

Once opposing defenses start making adjustments as the game goes on, he gets out coached in an absolutely hilarious fashion.

So we’re mimicking the Miles LSU teams that always had to wake up and pull road wins out of their arse
Yaaaaaaay

I hope someone brings it up to Saban.

BoB with his opening script tends to have plays that build on each other. One group sets up the next. Once the script is done it seems to a case of D&D (down & distance) Roulette where he just picks a play from his call sheet with nothing linking the plays.
A good DC will have a pretty good idea what his "go to plays" are after the 3rd series. The Utah State DC said that the Alabama offense is pretty simple. They only run about 10 plays. Maybe toss in a wrinkle every now and then.
D&D Roulette does not fair well when the shots you fire over and over are so limited and the DC's you are facing know the list.

He's not overcomplicating anything actually. That was what Sark did.
He actually just runs his script early on then once the defense adjust he can't because he sucks as a play caller and has no creativity to adjust and make plays for his playmakers.

Great work George! Love it.
I truly believe BOOB is in way over his head. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY SABAN KEEPS HIM. We knew this last year.. yet, Saban keeps trotting this idiot out there. Truly don't understand why.

Saban asked a 2~3 year commitment from BoB. Such a commitment goes both ways.

Thanks SoG - facts and data - I didn't have this data Saturday afternoon but I commented at the end of the 3rd quarter that we didn't yet have a TD drive - I don't call a one-play 81 yard run a drive - we are very fortunate to win a game in this era with one TD drive - and that's also a testimony to the D - they kept the game in reach in the heat when the O didn't sustain drives - and they knocked the starting QB out of the game - maybe the biggest factor in the W.
Also, the O scoring chronology trend is down in the "problem" games:
UF - 31
aTm - 30
barn - 24
UTx - 20
I felt like I had played in the game when it was over......

Our offense id have to believe under BoB is gonna remain an issue in several games. Defensive front better shape up

I agree with everyone in this thread. I wondered if it was only me seeing our offensive woes. BoB needs to go. His play calling baffles me into intense frustration. Until he is gone we will not be all we can be on offense.

Well that’s certainly frightening considering what’s ahead of us in October.

Don’t forget the performance against LSU. I know it was a home game, but the offense was putrid then too.

Agree, but LSU did kind of throw a legitimately entirely new defense at us.
We didn't make any adjustments, but they almost completely did entirely the opposite of what they'd done to date. And they were actually a pretty good defense the rest of the season playing that way.

And this statement says it all where BOB is concerned, unfortunately.

Saw this on another page - my eyes glaze over when trying to read it but it might be meaningful to some:

BoB doesn't seem to be able to adjust to the other teams' adjustments. Would be fine if he were going up against Pete Golding

When I say he overcomplicates it, I don't mean he has a complicated system like Saban's defense. I mean, he tries to call the perfect play every time, and that leaves us with very little time on the play clock and doesn't give Bryce time to digest what the defense is doing, doesn't give time for shifts or motion. He just needs to make a decision and stick with the outcome of the play. I could be wrong, but that is what it looks like is happening IMO.
Additionally, the FOX broadcast was very narrow and made it difficult to see what was happening down the field. There has to be an option between the sky cam and only seeing the line and QB.

This is NFL retread OC stuff and it simply doesn't work at the college level.
I don't want to say too much about Texas because the Fox camera angles were terrible for identifying downfield route elements, but it sure didn't look like our receivers were being put in positions where we could hurt them for blitzing behind deep safety coverages in the middle part of the game.
