Close to 145 former Georgia high school players are active on opening-day NFL rosters in a season that begins Thursday with a game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills. Georgia’s total is up from about 125 last season and represents nearly 1 in 11 active NFL players.

About 25 are rookies, including No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker from Upson-Lee with the Jaguars.

The Baltimore Ravens have the most former Georgia players with 10. The Falcons have nine. Every NFL team has at least one Georgia player.

That's some serious talent at our door step. . . . (eta: by way of K.Niebuhr)

I remember when we used to be a power player in recruiting highly ranked Georgia high school players. The good old days.

There are 60 something from Alabama.

Georgia has twice the population of Alabama.

Florida has almost 200 players in the NFL.

If only we were surrounded by talent we might have a chance.

Coach G was a big reason for Ga success.

Auburn has always had success in Georgia. Coach G was great recruiter but he's not the reason for the success there.

Obviously not the only reason but he always recruited that state well. When Coach G left the 1st time, he helped UTenn make in-roads in Ga when they had their run in 90’s.

Obviously Kirb has clamped down other than the ones that Dabo or Saban are able to sway.. We have to start getting our fair share of those plus the UGA recruits that don’t want to sit.

It was nice to see us offer two Walton ‘24 kids lately - Wendell Gregory and Ashton Woods

Heck it's south carolina, Tennessee, UF, Ohio State, LSU.

Auburn and Georgia Tech used to be the 2nd schools in the state to get who they wanted. Throughout history about 40-50% of our roster has been from Georiga. The rest from alabama and florida. Then possibly 1 or 2 from some other state.

Georgia, Alabama, and Florida are our recruiting footprint. There is enough talent within 200 miles of Auburn to put together a national championship contender.

I don't think we recruit South Florida hard enough anymore...

I agree but outside of the Dye years and early Bowden years we rarely got down to south Florida.

Maybe Roc can make some noise down there in the south Florida area. I wouldn’t spend to much time on it tho. If a kid has sincere interest sure but if we are trying to sway from 5 other schools maybe focus attention closer to home.

Orlando and above should be hit hard by our staff.

Hell we have to get back to owning Columbus Ga, Lagrange, southwest Atlanta metro, getting 6-8 of the top 20 in the state of Alabama. Hitting all the South Georgia small schools for talent and stop FSU/UF scoop up all the rural talent. Then Cherry pick interested recruits from Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and South Carolina high school football is stepping up lately as well.

Had, and we won't get back to the level we want to be at until we are successful there again. Alabama and then Clemson started killing us in GA.

Yeah, per capita, Alabama leads all states with 1 in roughly 74,000 citizens on an active NFL roster.

Clemson making inroads in GA has hurt Auburn more than UGA has imo. Clemson has kicked out arse in recruiting GA the the past 5 years or so. UGA has always held sway with the top GA kids, but Clemson is picking up the ones we used to be in for.

Ahhh yes, this is why Auburn is the "hardest job in the country"

I agree Meta that is the talking point but I don’t agree with it.

I would say Auburn has the highest expectations of schools without a built in advantage in recruiting.

I wasn't talking to you or anyone in particular. Just laughing at an idiotic talking point that is thrown out which makes zero sense.
