What are the expectations for this season?

Still very high on him, although some of the decision making last year was puzzling. That being said he’s a very young coach and a learning curve is to be expected. He brought in the best recruiting class in program history this year, which is exciting. Recruiting is slow for next year so far, which I suspect has some to do with NIL luring guys elsewhere. I hope Drink is here for a long time…he has the energy and moxie that our milquetoast athletics department desperately needs.
All that said, I don’t have high expectations for this season…6 wins should be the goal and focus on retaining guys for next season where I expect a much more significant jump forward.

He should start Ron Weasley at QB

He's a great cheerleader at basketball games

I expect 7-5, but would accept 6-6 with a bowl.
I think a lot of fans are looking forward to 2023 and pinning our hopes on Sam Horn and the maturation of Drink's last two recruiting classes.
Drink ran a very conservative offense in 2021 with Tyler Badie used as a workhorse. We expected a more dynamic offense from him based on his offenses at previous stops. Whether he lacked confidence in Bazelak or the receiving core in 2021 I don't know, but he has pledged to "open up" the offense in 2022 and he has the receiving corps to do so. Whether he has the QB for that or not in 2022 remains to be seen.
Drink will get another year or two to see what he can do with "his guys"

I trust him with my life and have no doubt that Mizzou will be back in Atlanta in the next 3 years

The only expectation I have this year is for Drink to keep his word and not try to "hide" the QB. If he does that, and the defense actually shows up for the first half of the season, then I'll be satisfied as a fan. I think that'll get us a 7-5 season.

is 7 wins really the expectations? not trying to be "That guy" just looking at the schedule and i dont see where they come from.
ACU, La Tech, NM state are 3 wins
Vandy is probably a win
Georgia is a loss
Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas are likely losses.
Ill give you Florida, Kansas state and Auburn, south Carolina as toss ups.
You'll need to beat 3 of the toss up games to get to 7. I would be absolutely thrilled with 6 wins this season.

6 is most likely, but if we can steal a win from Kentucky, Tennessee or Arkansas, thats how we would get to 7. Which i kind of expect to shock one of those teams. Most likely it would be Tennessee.

I think we will be improved quite a bit, but it won't really show up in the W-L. Seems like the other teams we are within reach of right now have also improved.
Fine with Drink, though he did drive me nuts sticking with Bazelak. Better never see that kind of decision making again.
Hope that the loss of one assistant coach, who could have been named OC with Drink handling the play calling, isn't going to cause a recruiting dropoff.

This is finally the year his higher recruited player should start to contribute. That said, they will still be young.
I do think this team is his best team yet, unfortunately, the schedule makes it hard to see more than 7 wins. The talent of this year with last years schedule may have gotten him 9 wins.
Bottom line, they will be better, but so are the teams we are playing.
Next year will be the make or break for me to decide on drink.

K-State isn't a toss up. I'd say they're a likely loss.

Assuming we start with the 4 "gimme's" you list, how do we wring 3 more wins out of that schedule?
Here's where they "might" come:
K-State - early test we have to win or expectations will plummet
SCAR - we've beaten them that last two years - but always a wild card and playing on road.
Auburn - can't really say, but it sounds like many are down on them
Florida - beat them last year. This year new coach new system MAYBE much improved, but we're hoping we are too. Playing in the swamp - will be tough
KY - lost by 7 last year in their house with our horrendous defense. We have them at home this year.
Hogs - They beat us handily last year in Little Rock but we beat them the previous 5 meetings in a row. Not quite ready to bend the knee to the new Arkansas Dynasty after one year. Game's in COMO this year.
I don't think it would exactly shock the sports world if we could find 3 wins out of those games. It is all going to come down to Brady Cook and Drink's play calling. Our defense will be improved (almost impossible for it not to be). Like I said though, I'll take 2 and wait for 2023.

ill give you aubrun in the Win column. You talked me into it. They arent going to be good.
But i cant give kansas state to you. I actually wanna put that in the L column.
Kentucky, cant give in there either. I expect them to be really good
Too much is unkown about florida...ill hold on to that one.
Not homer but i dont think youll beat Arkansas. Best hog team weve had since petrino. All phases are strength except d line.
South Carolina is a game you could/should win, but i think they will be uh improved.
5 wins before any toss up games are played. Its possible.

All I’m going to say is going into 2013 no one had us winning more than 4 games.
We all know we will be improved. Better linebacker play and better playmakers on the outside. Cook has wheels and seems to have good decision making.
With that being said, all are possible wins and losses until the games are played. I hate these “for sure losses” and “for sure wins” bullshite.
Lineup and we will see who comes out on top.

Agreed - it feels like anything over 6 wins is beating expectations and will be a momentum builder for a strong year 4

Haven't bet the mortgage payment on it, but you never know.
K-State on the road is going to be very tough. I'm really looking forward to it to see what we've got. I won't be exactly demoralized if we get beat close, but it will temper my expectations for the rest of the season.

He’s gotta show he can do more than recruit and deliver sarcastic one liners.

We didn’t play in LR last year but I’m guessing you didn’t watch the game.
You did beat us the previous 5 years but not sure what that has to do with anything moving forward since both schools have new coaches
