That's the best you could come up with? I'm disappointed, Willy. You're losing your touch.

Najee probably wanted some accountability in a coach and Saban has none.

You and your alter Willy have said some idiotic things before - THIS is the absolute DUMBEST thing ever said on this site.

Good Lord the stupidity.

Najee Harris has never been a team player. He's lucky Saban put up with him.

If playing time was the issue his first two years, then it sounds like to me that Bama is the place to be. Ask Henry, Jacobs, and Harris. They all rode the bench their first year. They got decent amount of touches their second year. Then in their third year they are starting (except Jacobs), and they all go first round. Sign me up

Yeah, he didn't get a lot of playing time until his third year. So not much tread was used before that and even in that year of 2020, he didn't play a whole lot past the the middle of the 3rd quarter. Still goes first round. If that is using, then use me up

Harris sounds like a prima donna here quite honestly. Can't take old school coaching.

What a joke of a comment.

I've never seen a good coach that won't look for the right buttons to push to motivate and get the best out of each player. Some need a kick in the pants and some don't. You have players that already take a lot of pride in their performance and are sometimes so hard on themselves that can get in the way of progress. Pushing the right buttons is what a great coach will eventually figure out about his team when it comes to coaching.

Najee stuck around 4 years and enjoyed his time at BAMA, winning 2 national championships. Someone was pushing the right buttons.

He ended up having some big runs in the 2017 national title game, on a team that had Bo Scarborough, Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs ahead of him most of the season.

The guy had 5 touchdowns against UF in the SEC championship game.

I’m still thankful Saban didn’t give him more touches in the 2019 game

The freshmen took over in the 2nd half. They fact that the 2017 class only won 2 titles and all of them didn't win the 2nd title, is crazy to me. Should have at least won one more

Would it have mattered? Burrow and CEH, along with Chase and the other receiver, owned a pro bowl corner in Diggs. Offense wasn't the problem, it was defense

Diggs was terrible while at Bama. He got drafted for physical upside alone. He had a lot of INT's for Dallas last season but also routinely got burned the rest of the time.

When CEH ripped through him like wet paper on that critical third down, I almost had a rage stroke-

sounds like a bitch. Also, don’t stay for a 4th year when you’re clearly NFL ready then…

Well spoke about around here. Najee was a great talent but wasn’t the most “dedicated” guy on the team and not giving it all sets sabans a$$ on fire. Everybody ranks Najee below Ingram, Trent, Henry for this very reason. He never took over games like those guys did when he had the talent to do so.

Najee ended up being 2-Time All SEC, the schools’ all time rushing TD leader, the Doak Walker Winner, and came back as a Senior to help Bama win the National Championship.

I rank Najee right up there with Derek.

This thread points to the reason why Coach Saban is the best of the best. His ability to juggle various personalities and attitudes that he inevitably has had to navigate non-stop over the last 15 yrs.

I'm sure he can be an arse to play for and work for. BUT as evidenced by Najee Harris, if a player sucks it up and stays with the process and does his job no matter how he dislikes Coach, he can win some championships and end up with a 1st round draft pick.

THIS is why Coach Saban employs a team of phycologists to aide him in determining how to approach each player and which buttons to push to get the best out of them.

Very few LSU players “liked” Saban. This isn’t too shocking tbh. When you win you can tolerate it.

My take on this is that when a coach has a super talented player who stars having issues, the coach has 3 choices:

1. Just let the player have his way so he won't leave.
2. Come down hard on the player to essentially run him off.
3. Find a way to thread the needle between 1. and 2., in other words make it clear to the player who is in charge but do it in a way the player understands/respects.

Saban apparently handled this just right.

If you giggle at Saban you must guffaw at Harsin.

Tuna/Jalen/Mac/Najee (and many more) have not been back to Alabana 1 time since they left and most are on record saying they never will. Sad, but hysterical.

Total flat out lie. Tua comes back every year for his charity event. Mac was in town during the spring and jalen was in town after the regular season ended last year. As far as saban goes, for a man that hates his job, he sure has stayed a long time…and don’t think he couldn’t have had any job at any level whenever he wanted, including the LSU gig.

Anyone who has been to a major game at Bryant-Denny under Saban knows how much the former players love to come back.

There are games where there are huge packs of current NFL guys there on their bye weeks roaming around. Add in the guys who have already finished their NFL careers and some Saturday's there is barely room to move on the sidelines between the players and the recruits on visits.

Saban is a lot to deal with, but the players wouldn't be coming back if they didn't respect him and like being a part of the program he's built.

To be honest from what I'm hearing about Harsin, he is an awful lot like Saban.

He's a no nonsense hard nosed coach that demands accountability from players and his coaches. Evidenced by his mass exodus to the portal after last season and losing 50% of his coaching staff. Harsin felt Auburn needed a culture change and by God he made changes; some of which resulted in hurt feelings which lead to an internal investigation that went sideways due to social media.

Whether Harsin survives long enough to see the fruits of his labors remains to be seen.
