Both are perfectly acceptable.

Hit ‘em w/ the “war eagle anyways.” That’s a saying for losing Auburn and I am trained to hate losers.

I assume they're just posers and I dismiss them quickly.

"War damn" is dumb.

Get off my lawn.

Ran into some folks in Auburn gear on a cruise ship. I said "War Eagle" and got blank stares.

Agree, wtf? Correct response is War Eagle and nothing else is necessary.

I think I hear a lot of younger folks doing "War Damn". I don't completely hate it but it's War Eagle.

I’m not opposed to war Damn on game day. Any other time it’s war eagle. Especially far from Alabama

I was on the ferry from Trinidad to Tobago last week. Its about a 3 hour trek and the ac is usually about 20 below, my wife always hands me this ole sweater before I hop in the car heading to the ferry, it just has an AU logo, no name.

I put it on when I sat down and the guy across the way said, "you went to Auburn", I was quite impressed. He said he was stationed in Jacksonville during the Cam years.

Conversely, I was in DFW airport last Saturday coming home and I was wearing my Homefield Apparel Tulane t-shirt. (Yep, I'm in the Homefield cult just for unique vintage logos) I was looking in a restaurant I was walking past, and a woman starts hollering Let's Go Green Wave!! It didn't register and I saw her face get astonished. My wife reminded me I need to remember what shirt I have on.

I see another person in AU gear, and give them an obligatory 'War Eagle', and they don't respond in kind, that's on them.

I've done my part.

Week or so ago I was at Home Depot and saw a guy with an Auburn hat on.

It was a proper Auburn exchange.

There’s a lot of people out there who wear AU gear due to their affiliation with a cousin or nephew or uncle or whatever who went there but have no clue where Auburn is or what War Eagle means

I try and give out a war eagle if I’m more than 500 miles from AU. Anywhere closer and I’m not bothering.

Gave quite a few War Eagles out in Utah and Wyoming couple weeks ago. Most responded

I'll always respond if I'm traveling but the in-state, Atlanta and the panhandle War Eagles aren't quite the same in my eyes. I've nodded at a few of those

I don't often say it in Atlanta, but if someone responds with "War Damn" or "weagle, weagle," it's not a problem at all. Further from the loveliest village, I usually get a "War Eagle" response.

Yeah I don’t say it in Atlanta, unless again, it’s a gameday.
