I once saw a guy wearing an Auburn hat in a Menards in Indiana. I went out of my way to say "War Eagle" to him, and dude looked at me like I spoke Chinese to him. So I pointed at his hat, and back to my own Auburn hat and said more clearly and slowly "War Eagle". He still look e confused and just kind of nodded and said "yeah.. thanks..."

It was downright depressing

ETA:

Got a War Eagle from an FSU alum I sat next to on a flight from LGA to DCA a few days ago. He told me the story of how he was at the game where Bo Jackson stiff armed a freshman Deion Sanders. Cool guy

I was in ATL and a dude had an AU hat on. I said War Eagle and he looked confused. I said your hat. Do you go to Auburn being him being about that age. He no he just like the look of the hat and bought it.

Otherwise if I am out and say it or I have had people say it to me but didn't hear them and the wife heard it and would let me know. It happens. Sometimes...people just like our apparel but none of that old shite...

JK about that old shite...I was there during those times...

Masters Monday practice round 2018.
Left side of the fairway on 15 by the ropes where the layup 2nd shots are going to be, maybe 10-15 people anywhere within hearing distance, about 4:30-5 PM. Jason Dufner is playing a practice round by himself and my family has purposely found where he is on the course to follow him, being an "AU man". He walks up and his caddy drops a few balls for him to hit, I and my daughter give him a "War Eagle!"
He looks at us like we just told him to frick off, then proceeds to ignore us. Supposed to be a "real AU man".
What a douche.

There are certain places I just want to be left alone with no social interactions. The airport is one of them. Also grocery stores

That is surprising, so surprising that my opinion of him changes.

Changed my opinion of him right then.
I was shocked to be honest.

I own one of those visors with the Alabama flag in Orange and Blue. I run with that one and another visor that I purchased in La Jolla. On rotation in the wash. That's about the only team gear I wear. I have a Utah flag on my house in Auburn just to be edgy. The original one was stolen in 2019. Since replaced.
