He still put up pretty solid numbers in the national championship game despite his two best receivers being out and despite his back-up WRs dropping balls all over the field
On a team full of 4 & 5 star receivers, how is this possible?
If throwing 2 INTs (1 pick-6) is considered "pretty solid numbers", I guess Heisman QB isn't what it used to be.

You do realize the Heisman is awarded before bowl games, correct?

LSU finished #5, #3, & #1 from 2005-2007 with Les Miles as our coach.
Yeah...and up until 01/09/12 there were a good many LSU fans on this very website who believed Les Miles to be Nick Saban's equal. In the lead up to the 2008 season, all anyone on this site could parrot was Les Miles's record at LSU (34-6) and his number of national championships (equal to the number Saban had at the time).
In my estimation, Miles did just about as good of a job as Saban would have done had he stayed at LSU. LSU just isn't built to sustain elite success like an Alabama, Ohio State, or Oklahoma.

Except he didn't really win much. He was good for us though.

Yes, that's why I asked if Bryce Young would still win the Heisman if it was awarded after the season. You should try reading the entire thread.

Sometimes you have young receivers on a football team who show out in a practice or a scrimmage and immediately think they are ready for major playing time. However, they haven't perfected things like blocking and proper route running. And so they don't play as much as they think they should. A player with a better head on their shoulder would use that as an opportunity to do better in practice and earn his way onto the field. Instead, we had players last year, particularly in the WR corps, openly complain about a lack of playing time on social media.
When their number was finally called in the biggest game of the year, they played like they practiced. Agiye Hall was perhaps the biggest offender when it came to complaining about lack of playing time. He dropped two potential game-changing passes against Georgia in the title game. He is now no longer with the team.

Every year is different. Young didn't seal the deal until the final two weeks of the season.

Helps when they give it to any jackoff running behind an OL full of 5 stars

Mark Ingram ran behind the following people when he won the Heisman in 2009:
James Carpenter (4-star)
Mike Johnson (4-star)
William Vlachos (3-star)
Barrett Jones (4-star)
Drew Davis (2-star)
ETA:
Derrick Henry ran behind the following people when he won the Heisman in 2015:
Cam Robinson (5-star)
Ross Pierschbacher (4-star)
Ryan Kelly (3-star)
Alphonse Taylor (3-star)
Dominick Jackson (4-star)
So...one combined 5-star on the offensive line for our two RBs that won the Heisman.

They should ask Gino Torretta about it.

All that is factual.
Here is another fact.
Until Mark Ingram was given the Heisman, Gino Toretta was the most undeserving of being given one.
Notice I said "given", not earned.

I guess Troy Smith slipped past your memory. He won the Heisman in 2006 with these stats:
203-311 65.3% 2,542 yards 30 TDs 6 INTs
The five previous QBs to win the award before Smith all put up the following amount of yards:
Matt Leinart (2004) - 3,312 yards
Jason White (2003) - 3,846 yards
Carson Palmer (2002) - 3,942 yards
Eric Crouch (2001) - 1,510 yards*
Chris Weinke (2000) - 4,167 yards
*Eric Crouch ran an I-Back Option offense and had over 1,000 yards rushing. Even so...Rex Grossman should have won it that year and an argument could be made that Crouch is one of the most undeserving players to win the award.

Troy Smith balled out in that Michigan game (#1 vs #2 a day after Schembechler's death). The rest of the field was kinda weak and they still had the underclassman bias.

Derrick Henry is the most deserving Heisman trophy winner in the past 20 years. Incredible heart and talent.

That’s ridiculous. Saban had two recruiting cycles before they won the 2009 NC.
The same # of cycles Miles had before the 07 NC. Thanks for proving my point.
