You can’t actually defend DeVonta Smith’s Heisman.

So what’s your take on LeBron’s championship?

What relevance does that have in the slightest to Smith absolutely shredding your team in Bryant Denny West?

He's the most decorated WR in the history of college football and holds just about every single career and individual season receiving record in the SEC. His 2020 campaign was absurd.

it was well deserved, but Stingley can't actually defend Devonta Smith at all

Covid Seasons don't count

If anything, they should count for more. It took a helluva lot to keep the team focused and disciplined enough to follow the team's Covid protocols and keep a mass outbreak of the virus away. LSU fans were very excited that Greg Sankey held the line when the B1G and Pac 12 were trying to cancel college football. It wasn't until it turned out their team was trash that they began to parrot the line that the season shouldn't count.

I’m just damn glad that Saban left LSU when he did. I can’t imagine being on the other side of his dynasty. And if you don’t believe that he would have dominated the SEC at LSU like he has at Bama, then you don’t know or understand his complete dedication to winning.

Buying teams, pre-NIL, doesn't count either.

Buying a team doesn't count for anything if you can't coach/develop the players. Just look at SMU in the late-70s/early-80s. They had the best team money could buy and still couldn't win a national championship.

Would Pat Sullivan have won? It was awarded to him before the 1971 Iron Bowl. He got his arse whipped by both Alabama and Oklahoma at the end of the season.

Probably. He still put up pretty solid numbers in the national championship game despite his two best receivers being out and despite his back-up WRs dropping balls all over the field. The Heisman runner-up, Aidan Hutchinson, did squat against Georgia in the CFP. Kenny Pickett, who finished third in the voting, opted out of his bowl game to get ready for the draft. Maybe C.J. Stroud could have won it since he led his team to a shoot out victory in the Rose Bowl.

Saban can coach with bought talent, correct.

Bear won the same way....stacking rosters with talent.

So Saban and Bear won despite everyone else doing the same thing? Pardon me if I don't care if a team was bought or stacked with talent. If you can't win anything with them it doesn't mean shite how much talent you have on the roster. Ole Miss was blatantly cheating in the mid-2010s, their roster was stacked with talent, and the only thing they had to show for it was a 10-3 season and a Sugar Bowl appearance.

Doubtful. Saban couldn't even string together back-to-back 10-win seasons at LSU whereas, at Alabama, he hasn't had a season with fewer than 11 wins since 2010.

LSU finished #5, #3, & #1 from 2005-2007 with Les Miles as our coach. You thunk Saban would have done worse? No, you don't.

Now imagine that monster had he stayed.

Also, using your logic, Saban's first title at Bama was won with Shula's recruits.

That’s ridiculous. Saban had two recruiting cycles before they won the 2009 NC.
