As we all know, it’s the same game in essence just slightly different rules/techniques.

The gals pitch and pitch and pitch some more, the guys pitch some and then get taken out so their delicate arms don’t hurt (Kopps, the perfect specimen, last year is an exception to that). Ok so, I’m being somewhat facetious with that because I know there’s the range of motion difference etc. However, the mental strain involved should be equal for a pitcher in both sports and typically the women deal it out a lot more than the men showing their strength and stamina advantage.

Now let’s switch to the slumps/yips. It seems like men are far more susceptible to have these issues than women. Generally, when a softball team/player is good they’re consistently good albeit every human has an off day here and there. The guys can be in slumps for weeks or months. Seems to be another case of superiority of the mental fortitude of women vs men.

I guess the genesis of this post is that ya boys have that layer of false bravado like the thin coating of shell on an m&m but once you get past that you’re just kinda soft, malleable, emotional blobs of brown goo. I’m sure we all knew that deep down but sometimes things need to actually be acknowledged in a public way.

Happy Friday Y’all.

Softball is a botched abortion of the great game of baseball.

Hit the ball 47ft and its a homer. Seven steps and you can round the bases.

I know I'm in the minority but I absolutely hate softball. Its a farce.

the reason baseball pitchers pitch once a week isn't because of the "mental strain".

By reading this post I would assume you never played baseball or softball physically? If you did you would realize that there is less strain on a pitchers arm throwing underhanded vs over handed. Go out there and throw 100+ pitches as hard as you can underhanded and then throw 100+ pitches overhanded as hard as you can and let me know the next day which hurts the most or has more soreness.

That person is an idiot. It’s obvious they never played sports much less baseball or softball.

Did I say that? No I did not and I even mentioned range of motion and me being facetious about the delicate arms comment - still softball pitchers pitch more innings typically and endure more (longer amounts) of the ‘mental strain’ of pitching in game situations.

I played softball from the time I was 7 years old til I was in my early 20s.

Hmm- again- I wonder if that’s what I was referring to in the op when I mentioned range of motion. It’s like you have no other comment on my factual post but to reiterate what I already put in the op. Fitting with sassy overall point of the thread.

You sound secure.

Btw softball is one of the only women's sports that is actually tailored for women to play. And voila, it's actually fun to watch.

Are you arguing women should be playing 90ft bases and 325ft down the lines? Yes that would be awesome to watch, similar to women's basketball.

They play on a field the same size as what my son played on when he was 9. What does that tell you...

I can't stand softball. I don't get it's appeal. I wish it would cease to exist. It's a joke.

To you. They swing/bunt and make contact with the ball when they are already halfway to first. A flyball that would be just off the dirt in baseball is a homer. Its dumb.

What does it tell you that they had to shrink the field down to the same size that 9 year olds play on in order for it to be interesting?

Look man, just because a bunch of women struck you out in the co-ed softball team you played on doesn't make the sport suck.

I would disagree. My daughter is a softball pitcher. There is much more range of motion in the windmill softball pitch than an over hand throw. It’s tough on the shoulder if not done correctly. Not to mention the underhand pitch is very difficult to learn. Overhand throws your eyes can see the release point to a certain extent so the brain kicks in to help. Not so with the underhand. It’s all about feel and technique.
FWIW, softball is a great sport. The shorter base paths mean there is smaller margin for error in fielding. Softball players don’t have the luxury of Patting the ball in the glove two or three times before throwing like baseball infielders throwing to first base.

That’s unnecessary, you pretty much prove on a daily basis here that your brown goo level is that of Nutella - which is the highest level btw- creamy, decadent, delicious.

The body is made to throw underhanded, not overhanded for any extended period of time.

Beer league softball is great for guys.

Competitive softball is great for girls. My daughter plays it, loves it, and constantly wants to play.

Let the women have softball because outside the incessant chanting and the land whales that play DH and get subbed out repeatedly for punch runners it’s a fun game to watch.
