I found it. Thanks for educating the old folks like me. Graduating from the UofA in 2017 isn’t just a year or two ago like it used to be lol

We broke the zags. They were already earning a soft label. We solidify that. I see their run coming to an end.

The current era of “peak Gonzaga” might actually be coming to an end. Mark Few is a great coach so they’ll still be relevant but they lost the guy who helped him turn the Zags into a juggernaut. He’s at Arizona now.

Their fans crying about how there was no way we could land a recruiting class that good is a tasty morsel I must admit. We have what might be a once in a generation group of in state talent who all grew up as Hog fans. Muss recruited Black hard and Black responded very well to that. Not to mention NW Arkansas is a lot closer to home for Black than next door to the Canadian border. Given all that why are people shocked we could pull this off after back to back Elite 8 appearances? Its not like we went 8-22 a year ago or anything.

We recruit well. We develop talent very well. We place players in the NBA at a good clip. If you do those things then it is no surprise you are going to get a lot of players wanting to be part of the program.

I still wanna know the story on the Wade kid.

I get Oregon and NIL money, but clearly we can match it.

For dinner last night I had a Gonzaga melt marinated in Bulldog tears.

I read their board for the first time yesterday, and couldn’t help but read their game thread to relive Thursday night. Seeing the hope fade with every page as the game wore on was glorious.

I then migrated over to their stickied 2022-23 roster thread for more schadenfreude. It devolved from them counting AB as a definite part of their roster to “guys we have nothing to worry about” to “he’s committing to us, Thursday’s game didn’t change anything” to “reports that he may go elsewhere but he’s not going to Arkansas” to “well shite, don’t look now but we only have 3 guards next year.”

They’re blaming Few now because apparently they have two 5 stars that Few didn’t play much this past season, which they’re surmising played into AB’s decision.

They’re also crying about NIL and how it’s unfair that we have deeper pockets.

Honestly, I think Nike money is overhyped. Phil Knight can donate, but if Nike starts doing anything, I can see every major school wearing Nike saying we switch to adidas.

I don't hold any ill will towards Gonzaga. I like their team when they're not playing us.

But why do they think it's so farfetched that we signed Black when Muss just showed the world he can win against superior talent (and thereby get the most potential out of players)? Muss just made it to the Elite 8 with the worst shooters in tournament history. Talk about doing more with less.

Then there's the fact we have a more storied program than Gonzaga. And the fact we already had 2 McDonald's all Americans locked up.

But yeah I'm sure it's only NIL deals.

Thankfully Muss is doing a good job of changing this but most people that follow basketball casually or not outside their own team, view Arkansas as some average program historically. They don't realize that the last 20 years or so has mainly been the outlier in our program.

My first helping was pretty disappointing.

Loading up the terp pen and going back for seconds. Sounds tasty.

Arkansas was easily top 10 in the 90s. The brass did whatever they could to drag it in the mud for 20 years. I think some of it had to do with the lack of respect of what Nolan and Eddie did to the program. The brass didn't like the idea that basketball was leaving football in the dust. I think they believed that Arkansas holding the reputation as a basketball school would hurt the image in football. So when Nolan got fired, they treated the coaching searches like it was no big deal and besides it is just basketball as they say.

That is just my opinion because I think some in the brass treated the basketball program as inferior to football. I believe as Muss continues to win, he will be well above in pay to all the rest of the sports. This is unheard because football always paid more even if the coach was mediocre. I'm sure it does rub some hog fans the wrong way that Muss is making more than Sam.

As plain as I can make this known... Results should equal pay with regards to comparisons between Round ball, Football, Baseball... etal
