Divisions I and II have taken another step toward removing standardized test scores from initial-eligibility requirements for future student-athletes.

Academic committees in both divisions have unanimously recommended removal of the test score from initial-eligibility requirements. The Division I Committee on Academics met virtually Feb. 10, while the Division II Academic Requirements Committee met virtually Feb. 9.

A lot of colleges have started removing those test scores for admission in general, so that's not surprising.

IMO there's better criteria to determine whether a student is ready for college but that's a whole other discussion.

The dumbing down of America's educational system continues.

The reason the public school system is the shitshow it is, is because we started teaching to standardized tests to begin with.

Daniel,

No matter how many alters you make, you’re not going to get any taller and your teeth aren’t going to get any straighter.

I doubt they were ever following the rules. This will just help out schools that do.

Just replace testing with NIL deals already.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the minimum standards were very very very low to begin with, and plenty of kids who still couldn't even hack that, were given learning disability statuses and circumvented the requirements anyway.

This is the NCAA finally bending over and officially declaring itself the NFL minor league. Which it always kind of was anyway... but now it seems official.

Yeah you have to only be slightly above a full-blown retard as is.

Very hypocritical. If the average student has it as a requirement, why not the athletes? Doesn't that contradict the mission of the NCAA?

I took the SAT in 7th grade, via Duke and their T.I.P. thing. It absolutely is the score I submitted to the NCAA clearinghouse for eligibility My score went up a tad over 50% by end of Jr year, but it's not as fun submitting those scores.
