Dead man walking.
Good times. The only thing better than watching the disaster on the Plains last week is knowing it was just a prelude to another one coming this Fall.
quote:
“Most reasonable people, if they’re honest with themselves, realize that the clock is ticking loudly for Bryan Harsin and the likelihood of him being there at the end of the upcoming season is pretty slim.
quote:
They want him out and they just delayed it by keeping him on Friday.”

It's the Auburn Circle of Life. The only thing left is for them to give him a huge buyout as a "show of support" that they will then have to pay out when they fire him, as we all know they will.

Auburn probably heard from their legal counsel that their slapped together "let's try to fire Harsin" rule they just came up with during the investigation was going to get them hammered in court if they tried to use it for cause. They needed to back off and take their time. Tell the boosters to stop pissing themselves just set him up to fail. Bite the bullet, have some patience and let Harsin do all the work to get himself fired.

What bothers me about Finebaum is that he was almost gleeful last week when he "reported" on Harsin's demise. Then he had to backtrack. All the other reports were just as bad.

They don’t need to fire for at least 18 months. He will not be able to sue in Alabama for what just transpired after that time. Before then they could have a payout and a lawsuit. He has them over a barrel.

What most people don’t like about Finebaum is he is really good at telling the truth in a way that can sting and cause controversy. Most people don’t like that. They want him to lie to them and tell them what they want to hear. Everyone likes to be complimented, not have their faults pointed out.
In this case, Auburn fans do not like him pointing out publicly what they already know in their hearts. They know the $$$boosters being stirred up by a certain alumnus will prevail yet again at some point.
Listen to him and you will know your teams weaknesses and those of your opponents as well.

I’d venture to say the football program has been neutered for a couple of years. It will take Coach Harsin at least two years or more to recover from the fiasco that has just transpired. Auburn MUST learn to stop shooting themselves in the foot.

if the chances are slim that isn't the same as inevitable firing
Finebaum just milking this situation for clicks. He has no more idea than anybody else.
Is it going to be tough for Harsin? Sure.
Is it inevitable that he will be fired? Of course not inevitable.

Actually, I think anybody associated with Alabama, including fans, would like Harsin to remain at Auburn.

In Alabama you do not have to have a cause to fire someone. He would receive his contracted salary and everyone would move on. AU wasn't going to get out of the contract for cause, but they were willing to pay it off.
