Obviously we still have a lot of opportunity to make some noise this year, but I can't help but think about next year with what we have coming in.

Nick Smith
Jordan Walsh
Anthony Black

-- I see the above competing for significant playing time immediately. And then projects/depth we have:

Ford
Dunning
Pinion

From the portal we get

Brazille
Makhel Mitchell
Makhi Mitchell
Jalen Graham

We lose are definitely losing

Wade, Lykes, Umude

Notae and Toney have are declaring for the draft/signed agents.
JWill has declared for the draft but not signed an agent. I think there's a good chance Williams returns

Then the remaining guys who played significant minute this year:

Devo - Returning [confirmed]
Johnson - uncertain

Guys who saw very limited time:

KK - transfer [confirmed]
Vanover -transfer [confirmed]
Chance Moore - transfer [confirmed]
Jaxon Robinson -transfer [projection]

So I think the roster is looking something like this

* = Starter
% = Likely rotational player

*Williams
*Nick Smith
*Walsh
*Black
%Devo
%Brazille
%Makhel Mitchell
%Jalen Graham
Makhi Mitchell
Ford
Johnson
Dunning
Pinion

Point - Smith/Black
2Guard - Black/Devo/Walsh
3Guard - Walsh/Black/Devo
4- Graham/Brazile/Williams/Makhi
5 - Williams/Makhel

Minutes distribution per game:

~35 Smith, Williams
~30 Black, Walsh
~20 Graham, Brazile
~10-15 Makhel, Devo
~5 - Makhi

Williams returning is the key for it being “the year” rather than just a good year. I haven’t heard any buzz about the nba but to me the last few weeks he has started to look like a pro.

I kinda doubt he gets a high grade. His game doesn’t translate as well to the NBA, IMO

ETA not trashing the kid, I’m a big fan of his game. More of a comment on the modern NBA style

We still need another big to spell Williams. No offense to Vanover but I am hoping he is told move on.

Unfortunately looks like we'll probably be rolling with Johnson as his backup at this point. Going to need JWill to stay out of foul trouble.

I can't imagine what Notae would have to prove by coming back. He's a pretty complete player for college.

I can't wait for Lykes to leave

Well maybe not 100% complete

What else is going to do? He's not on the NBA's radar. Might as well stay in college and get some NIL money.

Agree. He's a heckuva college player. Don't know whether his game translates to the NBA.

Tough one for me is Toney. Would be great to have him back but does he get many minutes with the rest of the roster? Has to be a hard sell for Muss unless he just really wants to stick around, get some NIL money and try to make a run.

I think Toney has a good path to minutes playing the 4

Overseas money is always good and I'd honestly be surprised if he doesn't end up on some NBA radars. Hes definitely one of the top offensive and defensive players in the sec

Such an infuriating player to watch. He turns the ball over a ton and every shot he takes is essentially a turnover.

But, if he gets fouled he’s almost automatic from the free throw line.

Such a love/hate relationship with that guy

He’s so streaky. He can hit 3 or 4 jumpers in a row one game then have a game like today where he couldn’t throw one in the ocean. So frustrating that this team can’t shoot well

Our team has done well historically with McDonald’s all Americans.

Even one makes a difference.

Muss with talent will be fun.

I don’t “want” to see guys get processed but if we had the opportunity to land a top transfer big that wanted to be part of a run, that’d be cool.

Gotta think if that option is on the table, KK, Jaxon, Johnson and Vanover will be looking elsewhere.

I personally think Vanover and KK will be the first ones. The fact that Lykes continued to get playing time in that really horrible stretch really spoke volumes.

Vanover, bless his heart, just can’t keep up in this system and conference. Seems we started winning when his minutes dwindled.

For the last two years… Musselman was trying to make fetch happen… it’s never going to be a thing.
