I feel like we are all in for a big fricking letdown with Arch Manning. And what I mean is he won't be nearly as good as Peyton or Eli.

I don't like Ole Miss but I'd like to see him honor his grandfather and play at Ole Miss. I respect how good Archie Manning was.
Oh what might have been:
Joe Namath with healthy knees in the NFL
Archie Manning on a strong team in the NFL

Completely agree but it's no shock they're looking for the Cutcliffe touch.

I don't think Arch is a bad prospect or bust waiting to happen but I think he may still be one of the most overrated prospects in memory. I have yet to see any film on him that impresses me and I've seen a lot where he looks mediocre or worse.
If his name was John Davis he would be a 4 Star. Maybe. Simply having a family of NFL greats doesn't make you an NFL great.

I knew that. Thanks. Won't be the only mistake I make on a Monday, I'm sure

As a pure numbers approach I bet he can put up similar seasons or better than Eli or Peyton in college, they had what most would consider above average seasons in today's CFB. Their passer ratings were in the 140s in their best seasons. It's just so much easier today with offensive design to have a highly effective QB and exacerbate a QB's numbers greatly as a result.
That being said, I still dont get why he's the #1 overall player in 2023 class. He still has yet to show up in a big game against the really good teams Newman plays. He's been straight up embarrassed by LCA in the playoffs the last 2 years and he seemingly hasn't gotten notably better since he started his freshman year.

“father is Cooper Manning, right?”
He is my favorite….:)…
had to say it .. I get a kick out of those commercials….

What if he and Ewers are both busts at Texas? That'd be pretty funny.

It has the same smell as the entire Chrissy Simms situation.
How perfect.

How perfect.

It’d be incredible odds given their resumes.
I’m no scout, but on the “4 star if his last name wasn’t Manning” bus. I’d love to see him in Austin though, certainly going to be an asset & the recruiting upside could be big.
I do wonder what NIL deal he could pull, that’s what’s most interesting to me. That name alone is worth a lotta $.

Manning and Simms have nothing in common besides they play football.
Manning name has respect.
I don’t see any such respect for the Simms.

I agree with this statement!
Although.. people have said that Cooper was a much better athlete than his two brothers. People are going to have these visions of this kid playing like Payton did at Indy and, Denver. And Eli in his two Super bowl appearances…. I hope the kid makes the best decision for himself!

I'm sure he can pull stupid NIL money but what does he care? He could sit at home and smoke weed every day of his life and still end up worth millions because he won the lucky sperm olympics.

I can’t imagine not going to the SEC if I were him.

He'll he be the starter by 2024, Texas goes into the SEC by 2025?

At the time Chris Simms went to Texas it certainly did. Phil had been an icon in NY with multiple Super Bowl rings and was one of the top commentators in the NFL. Chris was definitely seen in the same light as Eli who is just a bit younger. Chris Simms actually was more accomplished in HS and was USA Today National Player of the Year. Eli was seen as really good but not as good as his brother.
Of course since then the Mannings have taken their legendary status to another level while Simms has faded into the abyss. You have to look at how things were 20 years ago though and not today.

Yeah, but I feel like that's playing with words. Cooper was a WR and was certainly more athletic, but the other two were much better FB players. That's like saying that Trent Richardson is a better athlete than Tom Brady.
