I know about Jimmy Rane.
Who are our other big money people?

Our program passed away first with Uncle Milty and then with Pat Dye.

Rane for sure, and has been for a long time.
Broadway donated like 500k for the club area in the old press box, which is why it is called the Broadway Club.
I've heard Harbert has influence. I think he may have played a part in either Gus being hired or the 2017 extension.
Not sure how much pull Lowder has anymore, but he is pretty tight with Rane. I think they were at AU at the same time and may have been frat bros.

I doubt this is enough to get Cart Blanche for access to run the football program.
I would think at least 10 million over a decade, probably more than that.
We need to sell the program to highest bidder. Then at least we have NIL money.

Maybe it was more than that, but for some reason that is the number that sticks with me, and I am sure he has given more over the years (if not he wouldn't be "Pat Dye Society" level or whatever it is).

This is the board of Trustees
Board
Rane, McCrary, Harbert are the big players. Rane and Harbert are the big money players. BT Roberts is new money in the group but is kind of the swing vote on athletics stuff that Rane and Harbert disagree on.
The rest are pretty typical Trustee type people and many are academics that rely on Rane, Harbert, McCrary, and Roberts to fund things they need done around the university either athletically or academically.

So those are the boogeymen huh. The stealers of dreams. The kitten killers. Tax collecter lovers. And the villain that takes the gumdrop buttons from the gingerbread man.

I don't have $500 to give much less 2-3 million. They have the best interest of Auburn at heart. Do they make perfect decisions every time? Nope. But you don't have the football program you want without them.

Some of these people throwing hissy fits about the PTB and threatening to take their support elsewhere tried to lecture us on “soft”
I’m here for it.

I'm actually tired of talking about. Whatever happens, happens.
As I was saying in August 2 dead recruiting classes was going to set us back until 2025. Well we got it. The staff needed to get some difference makers and fill some needs and failed horribly.
So I'm will to take a chance on someone, find an interim type coach, or go with some old guy. Doesn't really matter to me. I think things can possibly change quickly if we are able to slay it in the portal over the next couple years but will require some dynamic recruiters. Our roster is going to be so bad I don't care how good of an x's and o's coaches we have we are gonna struggle to get to 8 wins without the ball bouncing our way. That's just reality for now.

I agree there are way too many cracks that Harsin created.
If the PTB finally were ready to do something quit trying to use flimsy ‘show cause’ issues ( I’m still willing to see if there is any hard evidence) and buy the man out and let him and his family go.
These money see it hear it and know more than any who use these forums.
As u said recruiting was still showing signs of not getting better if any of Harsin didn’t do w connecting, not being personally aggressive at all times on recruiting.

There are no academics on the BOT, unless you consider Sarah Newton (Bill Newton's wife), who is a former elementary school principal. Mainly businessmen, bankers, and lawyers, and a couple of former football players, etc.

We've heard every side of the argument from people that don't have a clue of all the details. meaning all of us on this site. I figure we will hear something definite either on Wednesday or Friday depending on what the official decision is.
Sounds like a bunch of frickery on the football staff side (Harsin) and the booster side. It's not my place to decide who is more at fault.

There are several that don't give a shite about football and only care about the academic side. A lot of the Bentley appointees care more about the academic side and the political side then they care about what happens in the athletic department.

I hope there are some BOT members who care about the academic side of the house at AU. Maybe if there were more of them on the BOT we would not be in the mess we are in now.

Many years ago the business school at Auburn was in jeopardy of losing its accreditation (Thatch Hall was a piece of junk). The school prepared to launch a big fundraiser. Harbert said "Just tell me what you want". They did, and he built it. Id say he "gives a shite" about academics.

Go look up "Pat Dye Society". Those are the people who have donated $3M or more beyond ticket priority.
